Weekend Project: Milk Jug Shade. I just moved into an office in my basement, and I need to capture all the natural light I can through its one small window. I’d like a little more privacy than this ground-level window affords, though, and former Natural Home & Garden art director Susan Wasinger’s translucent shade out of upcycled plastic milk jugs is the perfect solution. As Susan points out, the plastic is surprisingly pretty when the light hits it, and this shade will give me both the light and the privacy I’m seeking. The triangular shapes make a strong graphic statement, but rectangles, circles or even amorphous shapes would also make for an intriguing shade. Solid Sugar Scrub Cubes have become the new trend and are now taking the place of traditional sugar scrubs. One of the main reasons is that these scrubs are in a solid form so there’s no separation and less mess. It also means it’s less likely that you will transfer water into your sugar scrub during usage since you are simply removing one or two cubes at a time for use and then resealing the container before use. While there are a handful of recipes for solid sugar scrubs floating around, I came up with my own recipe that I’d like to share with you. It’s not greasy when applied and easy to make. It’s also gotten a lot of great feedback from my customers who shop with me online at Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen. Here’s what some of my customers have had to say about my Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub Cubes: Cucumber Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub CubesMy mother LOVES this!!! Probably the easiest DIY lip gloss ever. As a kid, I always had a fascination with makeup. I would peek through my mom's little makeup bag and play around with the pretty things I would find. Even though I was a little too young to be wearing makeup, I was always experimenting in my bedroom mirror. I used to read Seventeen magazine back then, too. I remember finding this lip gloss tutorial among the pages and becoming completely obsessed with it. You will need: - Vaseline - Powdered eye shadow or blush - Small empty container - Small mixing utensil 1. Probably the easiest tutorial in history, but there you have it! Did you read beauty magazines as a kid?
