Sequential Tart: 2D Goggles in Motion (vol /iss 10/October 2012) As an animator, Sydney Padua has worked on some of Hollywood's biggest features: Iron Giant, Clash of the Titans and The Chronicles of Narnia.
As a cartoonist, Padua has created the little webcomic that could: 2D Goggles, chronicling the whimsical crimefighting adventures of Victorian computing pioneers Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace. What started as a one-off project for Ada Lovelace Day — a celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and math — became an Internet hit that has led to an upcoming 428-page volume collecting the comics, with revised and additional material by Padua. It was this mammoth project that brought Padua, who lives in London, England, to Alberta late this summer.
