Lance Armstrong was at heart of 'sophisticated doping ring' – live | Sport. Armstrong Explicitly Motions Complicity with Omerta in Simeoni Chase Down and Zip. Armstrong Chases Down Simeoni Attack. What does it mean to be a patron of the Tour de France? Is a patron simply the strongest rider of his era, or is there something more? In the true sense of the word, there is. A patron is not just a champion, but a godfather of sorts, a man who can dictate the moods and mores of the peloton, who can turn even a seemingly meaningless stage to his end. Typically, it is also a benefactor of sorts, a man whose magnanimity can elevate the dignity of the sport through observation of its most time-honored precepts, key among them sportsmanship. We saw a patron on Tour today, but it was not a benevolent one.

Instead, the ugliest side broke out of the race's grandest champion today when Lance Armstrong bolted out of the pack to join Filippo Simeoni, who had just before broken free himself in an attempt to bridge up to the break. On reaching the six-rider move, Simeoni said Armstrong looked over at him and smirked, "Bravo. Simeoni is one of cycling's most anonymous riders. Sports City Stadium for Qatar 2022 / Populous. The so called ‘Hexagon Park’ Bursa for the European UEFA Championship 2016 was planned as an integral part of the traditional Culture Park in the heart of Bursa. The new pitch is located almost at the same spot as the current venue with sufficient space around for easy and safe circulation. Due to the existing site, the lower tier of the stadium is imbedded into the topographic slope – the visible height of the stadium is reduced according to the park trees around. Unfortunately the UEFA EURO 2016 takes place in France. Sports Complex / DATA Architects. The proposal for the Saint-Laurent’s Sports Complex by DATA Architects finds its balance between the partial restructuring of the existing gymnasium and the construction of a new figure to the simple geometry and resolved, a quadrilateral with sides slightly curved, which refers to the site while inspired by the dominant archetype of this type of sports equipment.

More images and architects’ description after the break. This is a simple rectangular shaped building with curved walls that are finely divided into two horizontal registers superimposed and slightly offset. This device reduces the silhouette of the extension, the traditional box gives way to a precious architectural object, with light and contrast. The lower register, made of structural concrete, houses the new gymnasium and its various functional premises and all premises involved in the existing gymnasium. The upper, slightly offset, sits on the lower layer of concrete and forms an attic of lightweight steel structure. Oberglatt Gymnasium Extension / kit. After a fire destroyed the foyer of the gymnasium in Oberglatt, Switzerland, the city council asked for a new extension to the remaining parts of the building. The proposal by kit architects, which took the second prize in the competition, seamlessly connects to the existing structure, through program, space and form.

Old and new dissolve into one, giving the building from the 70ties a distinct new identity. More images and architects’ description after the break. The cross section of the old sports hall with its ridged roof is most characteristic. Its ridge and eaves are extended and transformed into a welcoming gesture for the entrance within four descending steps, incidentally creating a series of skylights. On the inside, the organizational principal of the existing building is extended and reinterpreted to accommodate the new program elements. The materialization is also in support of the idea of creating a single new entity. Tulip-Like Gymnastics Hall in Utrecht Provides Privacy But Maintains Natural Daylighting. The TNW Tulip sports hall is home to four individual gymnastics clubs and is used exclusively for practice and competitions. Located in the center of Utrecht, the hall is part of a much larger redeveloped sports complex and is situated next to a school and a soccer club.

The hall includes a large open space for practice and competitions, along with offices, locker rooms, bathrooms, and a top floor viewing area for spectators. The developers of the club decided it would be best if there were no windows at all in the building on the sides. This was for three reasons. But without any windows at all, gymnastics halls tend to be dark, gloomy and lit with fluorescent lights. . + NL Architects Images ©NL Architects. Pegan Petkovšek - National Gymnastics Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The National Gymnastics Centre Pegan Petkovšek is part of the comprehensive renovation of Svoboda Sports Park in Ljubljana. It is the first of the three sports halls that are to be built on the western edge of a belt between an access street on one side and a large greened park layout with sports grounds on the other. The building of the gymnastics centre is placed on the northernmost part of this belt.

The northern and western edge of the building reference the building line regulated by the spatial acts, which also stipulate the greatest built ratio and the height of the building. The strict urbanistic regulations necessitate a very compact design that allows for little deviation. The proposed spatial design with its predetermined compact volumes of sports halls divides the belt into three clearly defined sections intended for the halls, which are separated from one another by parking spaces.
