Guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli of the resurrected late ’80s/early ’90s death metal outfit PESTILENCE has issued the following update: Recently, bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (NUFUTIC, OBSCURA) and drummer Yuma van Eekelen (EXIVIOUS, THE NEW DOMINION) decided to work more intensively on their main projects. Therefore, bassist Stephan Fimmers (NECROPHAGIST) and drummer Tim Yeung (MORBID ANGEL, DIVINE HERESY, VITAL REMAINS, HATE ETERNAL) will join PESTILENCE for the upcoming new album OBSIDEO and live performances. Patrick Mameli and Patrick Uterwijk would like to thank Jeroen Paul Thesseling and Yuma van Eekelen for their hard work and great musicianship on the Doctrine album and live shows and we wish them both good luck in the future with their own projects.

This style of music was made popular in the Seventies, thanks to bands like GENESIS , YES , PINK FLOYD , KING CRIMSON , VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR , MAGMA , ANGE and many others. However, the rough rules of the market and the lack of media support led Progressive Rock to lose favor at the end of the decade. Despite the audience's desertion throughout the Eighties and Nineties, artists from all around the world still perpetuate this aesthetic. Opposed to a rigid formulae, Progressive Rock music mixes rock with elements from other horizons such as classical music ( YES , GENESIS , EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER ), jazz ( SOFT MACHINE , CARAVAN ), electronic musics ( HELDON , TANGERINE DREAM ), world music ( Peter GABRIEL ) and many more. During the last three decades, many artists have released true masterpieces ; but because of the media's lack of interest, these gems have not yet reached the ears of music lovers. Awareness of this problem led to the founding of Musea.
