California Common Core State Standards: Professional Learning Modules. A Must Have Technology Integration Matrix for Teachers. It is time you have a matrix to guide your use of technology in the classroom.
I am definitely sure that all of you are using technology with students but have you ever asked yourself whether you are using this technology in a pedagogically sound way ? What about if your school principle, parents of your students, or even say a supervisor inquired about the educational implications of the technology you are using in your classroom ? Do you have solid answers that are deeply grounded in the teaching pedagogy and literature to provide those inquirers or you are using technology because it is " a la mode " and everybody else is using it?
This is where the importance of Technology Integration Matrix comes into play. Here is what this matrix is all about : The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students. Creating Schoolwide PBL Aligned to Common Core. Green Street Academy is a two-year-old public middle and high school in urban Baltimore, Maryland.
One of the school's focuses is to embrace the green eco-sustainability movement and the new career paths it will generate. Like most schools, GSA is designed around extremely high academic standards that capture students' imaginations, stimulate their curiosities and inspire their successes. Unique to our program, though, is that last year we began the process of transforming the entire school to a true project-based learning (PBL) environment by the end of this school year. Here, are some of the transformation experiences -- both positive and negative -- we've had since beginning the shift. They even have their own section—Reading Standard Ten. A focus on text complexity means students will be expected to read, comprehend, and cite increasingly difficult texts. What heralded this shift, and what does it mean for your school? A landmark study published by ACT in 2006, Reading Between the Lines: What the ACT Reveals about College Readiness in Reading, identified facility with reading complex texts as the gatekeeper skill for reaching the reading benchmark on the standardized ACT test. Of nearly a half million students taking the ACT, 51 percent scored at or above the reading benchmark. Satisfying the ACT reading benchmark correlates with long-term outcomes, including enrolling in college, persisting in college, and maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA, to name a few.
