The Gaerne G-Midland is a waterproof motorcycle boot model aimed at motorcycle adventure touring and touring use. The BOMBERS are literally responsible for these being sold into the US, we began importing them ourselves back in 2011 and they are a popular model for us. Midlands are a perfect split between support and comfort, hitting a balance for a mix of street and dirt use. Midlands have considerably more support at the ankle and forefoot areas than the Gaerne G-Adventure and Gaerne Balance Oiled models, but are similar in weight, so they are easy to walk in. They also have that typical outstanding Gaerne fit and comfort, which we feel is best in the industry.
Midlands fit slightly smaller than other Gaerne boots. We call it a half size or less. Toebox is wide, they are great boots for people with wide feet. Key protection include a plastic protector at the heel, hard supports at the ankle and shin, a more reinforced and rigid toe, shift lever pads, and several other supports. TCX Infinity GTX Boot. I currently own a pair of Sidi Canyon Rain boots and absolutely love them, except that the suede on the shift pad almost immediately lost its stitching. They're about 5 years old now, and it's time for another pair of boots to replace them. My brand of "adventure touring" is usually about 6 hours of technical (sometimes goat-trail) mountain roads followed by 5 miles of dirt to get to a campsite for the night, -or- the same thing, but ending up in a damn nice hotel.
I pack light so I really would like the boots to be comfortable enough for a few miles of hiking or city walking, and stealth enough that I can wear them to a professional meeting under a pair of nice jeans (think casual, not business casual). I can do all of that with the Canyons, as they're quite walkable and if the buckle is under the jeans, they just look like weird italian boots.
