The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is tweeting the vessel’s original wireless messages from that night, and in real-time starting at 11:55 ADT, the same hour the ship struck an iceberg. You can follow the Titanic event on Twitter using the hashtag #ns_mma. Dan Conlin, the museum’s marine historian, was quoted saying: “I think they’ll get a sense that when this disaster happened nobody knew it was going to happen. We all know what happened to Titanic, we all know how the story unfolded in great detail. Well, nobody knew in 1912, let alone those poor wireless operators in their isolated, little windswept huts.

Twitter Increases Student Engagement [STUDY] Communicating in 140-character segments may seem to contradict the goals of generally long-winded academia, but a new study has found that the two are less opposed than one might think. Students in the study who were asked to contribute to class discussions and complete assignments using Twitter increased their engagement over a semester more than twice as much as a control group. The study used a 19-question survey based on the National Survey of Student Engagement to measure student engagement at the beginning and end of a seminar course for first year students in pre-health professional programs.
Four sections (70 students) were given assignments and discussions that incorporated Twitter, such as tweeting about their experiences on a job shadow day or commenting on class readings. Three sections (55 students) did the same assignments and had access to the same information, but didn't use Twitter. Active Twitter Users Have Shorter Relationships [STATS]
The romantic relationships of active Twitter users apparently don't last as long as the rest of the population, according to stats published by dating website OkCupid. The site, which regularly publishes information about dating trends and statistics, has compiled a number of charts about the sexual habits of its millions of users. The website determines dating compatibility based on how users answer thousands of questions. Among OkCupid's findings are two conclusions about Twitter users. The first one: People who use Twitter every day tend to have shorter relationships, and the problem gets worse as a person gets older, according to its analysis of 833,987 OkCupid users. The average relationship for an 18-year-old who uses Twitter is about nine months, while "everybody else" usually has a relationship average of nine-and-a-half months.

Avec plus ou moins de tact, certes (j’ai même reçu un DM "Qu’est-ce que tu dirais de passer une nuit avec un inconnu rencontré sur Twitter ? "), mais dans l’ensemble, s’il y a quelque chose qu’on peut particulièrement apprécier chez le Twitto, c’est qu’il ne manque pas d’initiative.
Une autre grande qualité de ces mecs, c’est qu’ils sont d’une discrétion incroyable sur le réseau (sauf exception du type @xoxob et @jesuisunblog). Et puis, les mecs de Twitter, ne nous voilons pas la face, ont peu de mystère une fois qu’on a couché avec. Là où ça se complique, c’est quand ça devient sérieux. Tu peux le bloquer de ton Gtalk en douce quelques temps.
