3D Paintings on Panes of Glass

Using multiple layers of clear glass, Canada based David Spriggs and Chinese born Xia Xiaowan , transform flat artwork into 3D sculptures. Viewers are treated to different shifting perspectives of the works based on where they stand in the art space. Spriggs work revolves around powerful explosive imagery, often resembling storms, cosmic blasts or firework like explosions. Xiawan’s “spatial paintings,” which often feature distorted figures, are drawn individually using colored pencil on tinted glass. Only when these pieces are combined on their floor racks do the images create the whole hologram like effect. Artist: Xia Xiaowan http://www.visualnews.com/2011/01/04/3d-paintings-on-panes-of-glass/
Cut the bindings off of books found at a used book store. Find poems in the pages by the process of obliteration. Put pages in the mail and send them all around the world. Lather, rinse, repeat.

A Father Who Creatively Captures His Kids (20 photos) - My Modern Metropolis

If there was a prize that could be given out to the most creative father, I'd hope that it was awarded to Jason Lee. A wedding photographer by day, he's used to capturing some of the most important moments in a couple's lives. As a longtime fan of Jason's photos on Flickr however, I think the real magic happens when he turns the camera onto his daughters. Sure, his children are adorably cute in their own right, but that's not what makes his photos so interesting. It's when he puts his own spin on their everyday moments that we not only get to experience our own childhood again, we're able to see a father's pride shine through. I was able to get in touch with Jason to ask him a few questions. http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/a-father-who-creatively

Portraits of Strangers

Portraits of Strangers Close up head shots of people with beautiful faces spotted along Orchard Road. All street portraits were taken with permission. Here are only some of the photos I’ve taken so far. Big big thanks to these wonderful strangers who gracefully allowed me to take their photo! I saw her sitting on the stairs outside of a mall, talking with her friend.
What Others are Saying: Known for his lyrical surrealistic imagery in Poland, where surrealism is not merely an artistic conceit but a visual language, Olbinski has imbued his work with a distinct metaphoric structure while at the same time his paintings exhibit the representational virtuosity of the nineteenth century American painters Thomas Eakins and Robert Henri. Rafal Olbinski proves that although as a medium it may have one foot in the past, it¥s other is firmly placed in the present, if not the future. – Steve Heller, A Senior Art Director of The New York Times http://www.escapeintolife.com/artist-watch/rafal-olbinski/
