You can wipe that smirk off your face. And pick your jaw up off the floor. No butter. No bacon.I’m fairly convinced that the world would be a better place if more sprinkles were involved. I know. I just made pancakes . It seems I have an unnatural obsession with cake batter. Well I do. But hear me out.

Cake for breakfast?!
Mmmm yep! A favorite quick breakfast is a slice of one of my 5 minute Protein Cakes toasted. Today I had a slice topped with a smear of butter but it's also great with a smear of nut butter , SF jam or just plain. Great breakfast on the go... toast, wrap in foil and you're off... Shelly's 5 Minute Banana Protein CakeA bout of insomnia was the perfect opportunity to try a couple of new flavors of my 5 minute cake. I've replicated most of the " traditional " cake flavors so it was time to get a little funky. These turned out great and besides being pretty they taste yummy which is the most important part. If you have whippersnappers you have to make these with them. I love making 5 minute cakes with kids because they just think it's magic and that I'm super cool and being cool in the eyes of a child is the BEST kind of cool. They are a bit labor intensive, but simply delicious and a fantastic finger food addition for your party. Inspired by Warren's Chicken Bites in Trisha Yearwood's cookbook Home Cooking , I decided to take bacon wrapped chicken a little bit further. Basically, I married my Fried Jalapeno Poppers with my Spicy Sweet Bacon Wrapped Chicken to create this Jalapeno Chicken Popper.

Plan for success
Longtime blog readers have heard me say this before but I'm in a chatty mood and I have a handful of new readers. I think one of the most important things we can do as a weight loss surgery post-op is plan menus . Planning helps me make sure that I have a good balance of protein, fats, and carbs. After the success of turning jalapeño poppers into grilled cheese sandwiches (aka the jalapeño popper grilled cheese sandwich ) I was wondering what other dishes I could turn into grilled cheese sandwiches. The basic idea is to take all of the flavours of a food that I am already totally into and use them in a grilled cheese sandwich. It did not take me too long to think of something perfect and it is interesting that it is also classic bar food, buffalo chicken wings, which are also one of my favourites. Buffalo chicken wings are chicken wings that are tossed in a spicy hot sauce and they are commonly served with a side of carrot and celery sticks with a blue cheese dip. I knew exactly where I was going to start with the buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich and that was with a quick buffalo chicken salad.

Feli's Lumpia Recipe Details
Summary: Filipino lumpia usually are rolled with a vegetable-and-protein filling, then fried to a shattering crispness. Washington cook Feli Orinion, a Filipino native, makes hers with a slight difference. Because they are easier to work with, she uses thicker wrappers than the kind made especially for lumpia.Cut off the root end of each pearl onion and make an "x" with your knife in its place. Bring 2 to 3 cups of water to a boil and drop in the onions for 1 minute. Remove the onions from the pot, allow them to cool, and then peel. You should be able to slide the onions right out of their skin. Set aside.
