Today, I overheard someone ask another Reviteer about uppercase text in a Revit text box. Apparently, he had a PDF that he needed to get into Revit. He copied the text from the PDF to Microsoft Word, highlighted everything and in the character properties, checked the uppercase box.

Then he copied the text into Revit and it was back to sentence case. Since Revit doesn't grab Word's formatting codes, he was going to have to retype everything. Of course, the fact that 4 programs are involved to just get your text is a great waste of efficiency, but at least it saves you from retyping everything. I hope that helps. Fillet and Hook references let you define a rebar or rebar set in the appropriate position within a fillet or hook. By snapping to these references you can avoid interferences and collisions with other rebar.

For fillets the references are placed at points of tangency and at the mid-point of the fillet arc. For hooks the references are placed at the point of tangency with the rebar segment, at the point of tangency with the hook extension and at cardinal points between them. After modifying properties of rebars or reinforced elements snapping to the references is preserved and adjusted to modified settings. It helps you define concrete reinforcement more accurately. The next time UserA synchronizes with central, borrowed elements would be checked for relinquishment and the user would no longer be the borrower of the sheet workset. However during the period when UserA is the borrower of sheet workset A101 [before they sync] UserB could potentially run into this message: Change Workshared Project back to a non-workshared model. In previous version of Revit Structure, if you enabled worksharing for your project, but then you want to change it back to a non-workshared project, there is no function to change it back directly.In Revit Structure 2012, you can disable worksharing. 1.Click [R]>Open>Project (or click Open icon in Quick Access Toolbar), browse to the central file or local file2.Check “Detach from Central”,click Open 3.In “Detach from Central” dialog, select “Detach and discard worksets”, the file will be opened 4.Click Collaborate tab>Worksets panel, you will see worksharing is not enabled currently.

How to Identify Uncircuited Connections - Revit MEP Tip. BIM Inside the System You can quickly find uncircuited elements using System Browser. Under the Unassigned > Electrical section, you can find connections that are not circuited. Under the Electrical section, you can find connections that are circuited, but not connected to a panel... these will have the circuit indication of <unnamed>.

Connections that are circuited will show the circuit number. You can select any connection in System Browser, right click, and select Show to 'zoom' to the associated object in the model. If you want to visually identify this in the model canvas as you are working more dynamically, you can use View Filters to color these conditions. On the ribbon View tab, Graphics panel, click Filters. I've defined three filters for three conditions as shown below. As I was blog-stalking today, I saw Steve Stafford over at Revit OpEd posted about the revisions on sheet dialog that is somewhat hidden in the sheet properties but helps with revisions schedules so much! It got me thinking I should post about some other little revision tricks that I think are hidden or people just don’t think about.

In the revision dialog you have the option for your "numbering" sequence to be by number, alphabetic, or None. None is the secret hidden power here! If you want to add your initial packages such as DD and CD to your revision schedule, but don’t want to show a number because you will not be tagging anything, you can do this by adding these items to the revisions dialog and changing the sequence to none.

You’d then need to go to each sheet's properties and in the revisions on sheet dialog check on those initial packages as they apply. Sadly, there is no way to check these on and off quickly from the drawing list. Until next time good buddies! Curtain Wall Grids Appear After Wall Re-Sizing. I have had numerous posts about curtain walls throughout this blog so I figured I would add another little tip. This is just one that can remove much of the annoyances I am sure you have run into in the past.

First, I highly suggest using a curtain wall type that does not have any grid lines predefined right from the start. I can almost guarantee that you will be unpinning and manipulating at least one grid line in each of your curtain walls. Once you do that, adn you start changing the length or height of the curtain wall... Good luck to you... Grids will start appearing out of no where, panels will get replaced, doors will disappear, and fluffy kittens will die... Before we kill anymore fluffy kittens follow these steps for curtain walls that were drawn with a pre-defined grid system and giving you a headache now: Select all the internal grids of the curtain wall.Unpin them.Select the curtain wall..Change the wall to a wall type without any defined grid pattern.
