Twitter has revamped its terms and conditions to reflect the fact it has implemented a series of changes to help it clampdown on trolls on the site.

For whom the bell trolls – Twitter threatens to lock out persistent abusive users

The social network has made two changes, one broadening its definition of prohibited content and another redefining how it handles trolls breaching its rules. On the prohibition side, Twitter has expanded from acting against “direct, specific threats of violence against others” to “threats of violence against others or promot[ing] violence against others”. On the changes, Shreyas Doshi, director of product management at Twitter, said: “Our previous policy was unduly narrow and limited our ability to act on certain kinds of threatening behavior. The updated language better describes the range of prohibited content and our intention to act when users step over the line into abuse.” Jeanlucr : #Amazon wants you to buy products... Amazon wants you to buy products on Twitter with hashtags.

Amazon has launched a new service that lets customers add products to their shopping carts through a Twitter hashtag, the company announced Monday.

Amazon wants you to buy products on Twitter with hashtags

Called #amazoncart, the hashtag will add most Amazon products into your shopping cart when you reply to a tweet that contains an Amazon product URL. While the program seems like fun, there are a variety of reasons it is unlikely to become a major way to shop online. You’ll need to connect your Amazon account to your Twitter account, which can be done in the social settings menu. You might find your accounts are already tied; if you’ve ever shared a passage from a Kindle, for instance, your accounts are connected. All tweets are public unless your Twitter account is protected, so perhaps you shouldn’t purchase things that you don’t want all your followers to know about. The account @myamazon will reply to your tweet fairly quickly to tell you whether the system was able to add the product to your cart.

Technologists, programmers and engineers are usually introverts. Sure, you get the occasional "social" type that can bridge the gap or interface between pure engineer and business/sales, but for the most part, a lot of us lack the essential social skills that just plain "normal" people posess. Over the decades we have been called "dorks", or "nerds" or "geeks", or just plain socially awkward. There are now better, more clinical ways to describe some of us. Research in the last several years has shown that there is a link between the tech disciplines and what is now generally referred to as the Autism Spectrum, which encompasses a wide range of pervasive and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Those of us who work in technology all know at least one Sheldon Cooper. You know, stuff like... And savoring our moments. 20 simple ways to get more retweets on Twitter. Twitter Adding 11 New Accounts Per Second

One of the effects of Google+'s controlled roll out, primarily to tech geeks and Social Media nerds, was an avalanche of "Google+ will be a (fill in the blank) killer" posts.

Google+ Won't Kill Facebook or Twitter, Google Has a Bigger Agenda

Twitter - dead! Facebook - dead! Twitter and Facebook - dead! I've tried to hold off on such pronouncements because, A) that's the easy way out, and B) nobody knows what effects exactly Google+ is going to have on the online media habits of millions of people. Let's not forget, while 10 million users in just a couple of weeks is impressive, it's still a relatively small sample size. Others have looked to dissect Google+, such as Ben Kunz, writing for Businessweek.com, who hailed Google+ for its lack of game mechanics (a point which I, and others, disagreed with in the comments section). Rather than examine Google+ on the micro level, my thoughts lean towards the macro.

While I think Google+ is a fine platform I find myself gravitating towards it because of the little red box in the upper right-hand corner. Twitter Power Seminar - take your business twitter techniques to the next level! This is a quick post before I get a new page up on Jojet.com about this… On the 3rd of December I’ll be running a morning Twitter seminar.

Breaking up (is hard to do) - Web, Twitter, Social Networking & Foursquare Thoughts. One of the things I love about Twitter is how quickly connections can be set up – you just click the ‘follow’ button (see note #1).

Breaking up (is hard to do) - Web, Twitter, Social Networking & Foursquare Thoughts

It’s a breeze compared to the request/accept faff on Facebook. The flip side of this is that it is equally easy to break a connection, to ‘unfollow’. However, for some folks this is hard to handle… I’ve heard some scary stories this week about people who get upset or even downright angry when they are unfollowed. In one case they try to publicly ‘shame’ the unfollower…yeah, right!

Custserv. Twitter Promotion Done Right: #moonfruit. A few weeks ago, we wrote about a promotion from website builder Squarespace, where the company offered up 30 iPhones in 30 days to be randomly awarded to users who included #squarespace with their tweets.

Twitter Promotion Done Right: #moonfruit

The campaign worked in getting exposure - #squarespace was on top of trending topics for several days in a row – but we took issue with some of the messaging, as in reality, users were getting gift cards, not iPhones. Commenters had mixed reactions – some questioned how we could complain about something free (and we did ourselves in the article!) , while others agreed it was misleading. In any event, rival website builder Moonfruit has launched their own version of a hashtag-based campaign, and seems to have avoided the problems we saw with the Squarespace promotion.

Like the Squarespace promo, Moonfruit is offering up free Apple products for tweeting their company name as a hashtag: #moonfruit. Not surprisingly, this promotion is working. 10 Advanced Twitter Search Tricks to search twitter better.
