http://www.sparkminute.com/ Here is some of my coverage of the 2012 Future Insights Live conference in Las Vegas where I was reporting for Dice and Dice News . Is hacking at risk? With more and more platforms creating closed environments, what does that do to the future of hackability? Hacking is critical for innovation and development, and now that the world is made of computers (what device doesn’t have a chip in it?) hacking has the power to innovate practically everywhere and affect our lives.
In a self-directed world with consumers talking to consumers, marketing and PR can only take you so far. Traditional tactics such as advertising have become marginalized by search engines, users, and social media. January 31st, 2012 - Our client Tripwire was eager to bring attention to their new blog, but they knew that simply announcing it wouldn't do the trick. Instead, they turned to us to create an anchor piece that was sure to draw the attention of their industry.

Bing Opens Up. Is It Good? It's Too Early To Tell.

Bing, Microsoft’s latest effort to beat Google at what it does best – search – is now live for everyone . It’s bearing the ubiquitous “beta” tag, and contrary to what many expected from Microsoft, the search is decent. But it’s also strangely familiar. http://mashable.com/2009/06/01/bing-opens-up-live/

Recently we released our first premium report: The ReadWriteWeb Guide to Online Community Management . It's been in the works for more than four months and we believe it's unlike anything else you've seen. Businesses seeking to engage with online communities on their own websites or all around the social web will find the guide invaluable in getting up to speed on the state of the art and making sure their employees have the foundation they need to be effective. The end product is in two parts. Part one is a 75 page collection of case studies, advice and discussion concerning the most important issues in online community. Part two is a companion online aggregator that delivers the most-discussed articles each day written by experts on community management from around the web.

There seems to be a recent trend whereby creatives are aesthetically stripping down their online portfolios to their bare essentials. (UK-based web designer/web developer Kean Richmond recently discussed this trend in an article about "undesign" , and the possible reasons why this trend is becoming widespread.) Even the most ineffective, unattractive or simple of man-made objects have been designed in some way. The same is true for the Web: Even the most hideous of websites are created by someone who has consciously made decisions into its design.
