3D User Interfaces. GUI Design - Interaction Design | Bresslergroup. Effective and usable user interface and interaction design is essential for desktop, web and mobile devices. And it's critical for a growing number of devices and platforms. In recent years, we have seen the rapid proliferation of products with integrated digital user interfaces. Led by consumer electronics, and quickly cascading to appliances and commercial, medical and industrial applications, a new product without an integrated touch screen seems behind the times.

And the rapid emergence of gestural and other “natural” user interfaces that utilize the physical dynamics of the human body will depend on a solid understanding of ergonomics and physical human factors. Our work for Pediavision is a good example of integrated product development. The new Spot vision screening system, shown above, lets untrained community volunteers easily and quickly detect several vision issues in children including near-sightedness (myopia) to eye misalignment (strabismus). Is Technology Making Us Less Human? This article is one-half of a point-counterpoint with Ray Kurzweil's article, "The Man-Machine Merger. " I'm sitting in this café in Silicon Valley, watching conversations flowing between Macs, tablets, mobile devices, and their owners.

I’m imagining the volume of information that is being streamed back and forth just from this one, small public space. That thought blows my mind. Never have we had greater access to knowledge than we do right now—limitless information just a few clicks away, the line between man and machine increasingly blurred. An even bigger question: As we surrender our cognitive independence to our devices in an effort to make our lives easier, what is happening to our humanity? We have this amazing and wondrous thing called a brain, and yet as we make increasingly greater strides in technological innovation, we are tempted to use this masterful tool less and less. Your brain is like a muscle. What happens if your device breaks, or makes an error?

Sixth Sense Technology TED. EyeSight's Gesture Recognition Technology- Machine Vision Software. EyeSight’s Gesture Recognition Technology allows users to interact with their devices using simple and natural hand gestures. eyeSight's Touch Free solution utilizes advanced image processing and machine vision algorithms to track a user's hand gestures and convert them into commands. These commands are then used to control the functions and applications of the device.

The technology is independent of the underlying processor and camera hardware and produces high quality gesture recognitions using as low as a VGA resolution camera. Moreover, the technology is designed for embedded platforms. It is optimized to function using minimal CPU and power consumption and supports challenging user environments with poor as well as direct lighting conditions. eyeSight's software based technology can be integrated on various levels of the device; On the chipset level, operating system, as part of the camera module as well as integrated in application level.
