Ressources pour le Collège. Association des Profs de LV. Cours de Profs. New Standpoints. Join a guided visit of the magnificent historical library. On display are the library’s main treasures – three illuminated manuscripts dating from c. 1500. Many colleges, convents and monasteries which existed in the Montagne-Sainte-Geneviève area of Paris until the late 1700s had important libraries. One of the only survivors, The Old Library of the Irish College, is housed at the Irish Cultural Centre, and comprises almost 8,000 printed books and manuscripts published between the 15th and 18th centuries. The main themes of the collection are theology, history, geography, philosophy and music.
Over 100 manuscripts have been digitized and can be consulted through the online catalogue. Pictured is the Irish President Michael Higgins, admiring the manuscripts in the refurbished library. There’s a planned visit on 6 May. Centre Culturel Irlandais 5 rue des Irlandais, 75005 Paris Free admission Group visits by appointment. Picture by Shane O’Neill / Fennells. Café Pédagogique.
