Today I finally figured out a way to display subtitles to streamed movies in Netflix. You might wonder what the point of having subtitles in Netflix is. Well, I can think of at least 5 reasons : You’re watching a movie late at night and want to keep the volume down so as not to disturb your neighbors. The actors are speaking with a strong regional accent that is hard to understand.

Completely disabling and reenabling Spotlight in Mac OS X Lion & OS X Mountain Lion can be done with the help of the Terminal. The following command unloads the Spotlight mds agent from launchd, thereby preventing the daemon from running or indexing any drives entirely. Open up the Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and enter the following commands based on the need to either disable or reenable Spotlight indexing. This will effect indexing on all drives connected to the Mac. Disable Spotlight The primary method is using launchctl, this will require the administrative password:

by Adam Pash Click to view I've introduced you to Quicksilver , given you the keys to working with objects therein , and I even popped the hood for a closer look at the Quicksilver preferences , which means you should be pretty much up to speed with operating inside Quicksilver. That means there's just one thing left to do. Today I've rounded up my favorite, most frequently used Quicksilver actions and workflows in one big old Quicksilver extravaganza. If you've followed along so far but you still just don't get how you might put Quicksilver to practical, everyday use, here's how I do it.
Click to view On Monday we took a beginner's look at Quicksilver . We covered a lot of territory, but I didn't address Quicksilver's extensive and somewhat confusing preference pane - which actually contains a lot more than preferences. In fact, what lies inside the preferences box is all your options for assigning powerful global triggers, tweaking your Quicksilver catalog, adding new plug-ins, and, of course, playing with Quicksilver's application preferences.

Written by Thomas Fals Posted in Netflix 110 comments If you are travelling abroad the US or simply live outside the US you will soon learn that in order to watch Netflix you need to be a little sneaky. That is because Netflix is a US only service and the website will check your location by checking your IP-address, which will give away your location. So to trick Netflix into thinking you are inside the USA you need to get an American IP-address.
When I start up Windows in 1920x1080 (1080p) portions of the screen are cut off and I can't view them on my DLP HDTV.This is called overscan mode and is a common mode for DLP televisions set by the HDTV manufacturer. Some televisions have a built in mode called "Reduce" which allows you to view the entire Windows desktop, but this mode is not compatible with stereoscopic 3D gaming. However, NVIDIA has a Resize HDTV function available in the NVIDIA control panel which allows users to view the entire Windows desktop and is compatible with 3D stereoscopic gaming. To enable it, follow these instructions: The options on this Resize HDTV Desktop page appear if you have set the NVIDIA Control Panel View menu to Standard . You can resize the desktop appearing on your HDTV screen if your desktop is extending beyond the viewable display area or the desktop or image is not filling the entire display area.
If you're using BitTorrent without taking special measures to hide your activity, it's just a matter of time before your ISP throttles your connection, sends you an ominous letter, or worst case, your ISP gets a subpoena from a lawyer asking for your identity for a file-sharing law suit.

Heavy computer users are familiar with keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl-c to “copy” and ctrl-v to “paste.” If you’re a Mac user and you switch back and forth from Windows to OS X often you’ve probably felt some pain using keyboard shortcuts. For some silly reason Apple decided to default standard keyboard shortcuts to use the Apple key (also called the Command key) instead of the ctrl key. That means to copy text in Windows you press ctrl-c , but to copy text in OS X you press Apple-c .
More and more ISP’s are limiting and throttling BitTorrent traffic on their networks. By throttling BitTorrent traffic the speed of BitTorrent downloads decrease, and high speed downloads are out of the question. The list of ISP’s that limit BitTorrent traffic, or plan to do so is growing every day, and according to the BBC , the ‘bandwidth war’ has begun. Are you not sure if your traffic is being throttled Check the list of bad ISP’s .
