How the Champions League Final Dominated Online [INFOGRAPHIC] Bayern Munich won Saturday's Champions League final over fellow German club Borussia Dortmund on a stunning 89th-minute goal from star Arjen Robben. That much, by now, is old news. What's not old news, however, is how much of a success the year's biggest club soccer match was online. The infographic, below, from UEFA — European soccer's governing body — shows just how excited social media-savvy fans were during and before the Champions League final. The match's official hashtag, #UCLFinal, was used more than 150,000 times on match day, while 4.8 million tweets mentioned the final and its players over a period of less than four hours.

Marketers would love to know just what kinds of content gets shared the most. To answer this question, web design and development company Go-Gulf created an infographic that breaks down what, where and why people share on social media. Pictures are the No. 1 type of content users like to share. In fact, 43 percent of users share photos, while 26 percent of users like to share opinions, status updates and links to articles. Different networks seem to encourage different kinds of sharing. Desktop still reigns supreme in terms of devices used to share content. As for why people share on social networks, 84 percent of users share as a way to support causes or issues they care about.
