CSR Policy.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pertains to the corporation’s interaction with society and its responsibilities to society in general. It demands that commercial success be gained through positive practices that aim to promote general welfare. Success, after all, is not only measured in monetary terms but also the corporation’s impact on the community, on its customers and on the environment. Why Corporate Social Responsibility is Necessary Corporate social responsibility may come across as a highly idealistic endeavor but it actually produces highly favorable and observable results. What is 'CSR' and how can it benefit your business? - Century 21 Australia Blog. It can be said that the social expectations of how corporations run their business operations are slowly changing. Whether it is the local butcher or a global investment bank, the public is increasing the weighting it places on a business’ contribution to the community when it comes to forming an opinion of the company and making a decision about whether or not to interact with it. The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one that encourages organisations to manage their business processes in ways that positively contribute to and impact on society.

While the overarching aim in implementing a CSR strategy should be the notion of doing good and giving back to society, such a plan can also have positive effects on both your business culture and bottom line. The process of setting a CSR strategy is similar to that which is followed when implementing a marketing or sales program. The first step is to sit down and analyse the various opportunities available to your company. How to Evaluate Corporate Social Responsibility. The relationship between business interests and the community has often been awkward, as there is often a natural tension between profit and social impact. However, in today’s world the case for putting corporate social responsibility high on the business agenda has never been stronger.

The real question is how it can be done in a way that aligns the objectives of shareholders with the needs of the community. Where companies tend to struggle is when they have to balance issues of economic growth, jobs and political interests with activities that impose significant, longer-term costs on the community. For example, the row between the gaming industry and legislators is a flash point which highlights the tension between gaming profits and the social cost of gambling addiction. These are complex issues, but it is important for business to be pro-active in addressing social costs of their activities or they will often find onerous outside regulation imposed on them.

Corporate Social Responsibility and the relationship between profit - Enterprise Research Papers. Does Corporate Social Responsibility Increase Profits? By Ron Robins, Investing for the Soul It is generally held that corporate social responsibility (CSR) could increase company profits and thus most large companies are actively engaged in it.

But few executives and managers are aware of the research on this important subject. And as I review here, the research does show that it may improve profits. However, linking profit growth to abstract variables that are frequently difficult to define is a challenging task. Most executives believe that CSR can improve profits. They understand that CSR can promote respect for their company in the marketplace which can result in higher sales, enhance employee loyalty and attract better personnel to the firm. Substantiating some of these beliefs is a study, Corporate citizenship: Profiting from a sustainable business, by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) published in November 2008. At the heart of the debate as to whether CSR improves profits is first how you define it.
