DIY. Dry shampoo has been a MUST HAVE in my daily hair care routine for the past three years. I’ve gone through countless spray cans of different brands (Psst! , Tresemme, John Frieda, Garnier, Oscar Blandi, Batiste…to name a few), spending way too much for very little product. I started to use plain old baby powder, sprinkling it directly on my roots and rubbing it in, and I found that it worked just as well or even better at giving my hair added volume and combating greasiness. I continued to do this for months until one day I was at work, and I happen to catch a glance of my hair in the mirror. It looked like I had smeared a powdered doughnut all over my head.

THE RECIPE: Mix 3 parts cocoa powder and 1 part cornstarch and/or baby powder in a small container. Because this container works so well, I just hold the container in my hand and sprinkle the powder directly onto my roots and rub it in with my fingers. Liquid to Light Designer Ed Chew takes a green step in the right direction with the TetraBox lamp, a light object made from discarded drink packets that would have otherwise ended up in landfills already packed to the brim. The design is achieved by unfolding the packets and refolding them into hexagonal and pentagonal sections that are then pieced together to form a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape.

By Jenny Ryan Many times when I’m at the grocery or drug store, I can’t resist throwing a few scented votive candles in my cart. When I’m ready to burn them, it’s easy enough to sit one on a cute little vintage china saucer, but I recently decided to try and find a fancier display solution for them. I also wanted the project to be inexpensive, and the materials used to be things I already had on hand.

I was inspired by memories of making faux-stained glass in elementary school and came up with these fun little glass votive holders. This project is quick and easy, and a great way to whip up custom party décor on the cheap. How to Solve the Rubik's Cube in Seven Steps The world's most famous puzzle, simultaneously beloved and despised for it's beautiful simple complexity, the Rubiks Cube has been frustrating gamers since Erno Rubik invented it back in 1974. Over the years many brave gamers have whole-heartedly taken up the challenge to restore a mixed Rubik's cube to it's colorful and perfect original configuration, only to find the solution lingering just out of their grasp time and time again. After spending hours and days twisting and turning the vaunted cube in vain, many resorted to removing and replacing the multi-colored facelets of the cube in a dastardly attempt to cheat the seemingly infallible logic of the cube, while others simply tossed it to the side and dubbed it impossible.

The Rubik's cube, it seemed, had defeated all. Humanity required a solution, so intelligent gamers went to work to take down the so-called "frustration cube". I could probably do three weeks of flowers because there are so many different ways to create them, but I’ve limited it to five of my current favorites. Before we get started, let me make a few disclaimers: 1. I find inspiration for projects all over the place {online, in shops, in magazines}, then figure out how to re-create them on my own. Each of these projects are my adaptation of something I’ve seen elsewhere. In other words, I do not take credit for ‘inventing’ these blossoms. 2. 3.

Okay, so let’s begin. Here’s what you’ll need: :: paper {either cover or text weight} :: florist wire :: scissors, pencil, glue gun STEP ONE: cut irregular circle This circle is approximately 8 inches, but you can do any size you wish. STEP TWO: cut spiral Start at the outside edge and cut in a spiral fashion to the center. I like a sort of bumpy shape so that the petals end up a bit irregular STEP THREE: roll your blossom. Woven gift-wrap // pastel edition ^_^ By Kate on August 8, 2012 I noticed that the woven gift-topper I made last year was doing the rounds again on Pinterest so I thought I would make an updated pastel version (pastels seem to be the new neon at the moment). I bought some quilling strips (0.5cm) to use this time which reduces the labour by about half (I’ve also been working on some more intricate woven ‘things’ for another project…more to come soon). Anyway check out the previous post if you want full instructions. Above: Mischevious hands – the unseen backdrop in all my photo’s ^_^ While I took photos today my boys were making their own presents by wrapping boxes in newspaper. I gave them masking tape to use – much more obedient than sticky tape.

DIY Spy Megaphone Hack Video. Male speaker: Let's turn this Megaphone into a bionic hearing spy device. We will be using a 25Watt megaphone and if you like this project, well there is a link on kitkay.com where you can pick up the same megaphone and build yourself. The first step is to disassemble the megaphone. So we will remove the microphone from the bracket, open up the battery compartment and remove the batteries and then there is a single screw that removes the battery assembly and circuit board. Unplug the three connectors attached to the circuit board and then there is three screws that hold the rear half of the megaphone to the horn. Those need to come out as well. Then remove the one small bolt that holds the speaker assembly in place and when that's free, you can remove the screws that hold the cone over the speaker. Once there, unsolder the two connections at the speaker and hang on to that cone speaker on for a future project.

Now its time to tackle the microphone portion of the megaphone. How to turn "water" into "marbles". Once you have all your stuff its pretty easy to use. take your alcohol and put 1-5ml in the bottle. a graduated medicine dropper works great for this but if you don't have one just use about 1-3 cap fulls. don't add too much the air/fuel mixture is very important, too much and the alcohol fumes will extinguish your match! Roll the bottle in your hands, the idea is to coat and spread the alcohol around the sides of the bottle. light a match, lean back and drop it in. WOOMF! If your mixture was good it should look somthing like the picture and you should get the classic sound that gives the bottle its name. :) i recommend doing this in a dark room so you can really see the flames. the bathroom is usually a good place, there's little to burn, many bathrooms have no windows, and you can use the exhaust fan to clear out the fumes from the alcohol.
