Edward H. Adelson homepage

Edward Adelson is the John and Dorothy Wilson Professor of Vision Science at MIT, in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and a member of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2007, and to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2010. Adelson has over 100 publications on topics in human vision, machine vision, computer graphics, neuroscience, and computational photography. He is well known for contributions to multiscale image representation (such as the Laplacian pyramid) and basic concepts in early vision such as steerable filters and motion energy models. http://persci.mit.edu/people/adelson

A statue of Claude Shannon, commissioned by the IEEE Information Theory Society, was dedicated, October 6, 2001 in his hometown, Gaylord, Michigan. Consult the website for pictures and a description of the dedication. Copies of the statue have been installed at Bell Labs, ATT Shannon Labs, MIT, UC San Diego, and the University of Michigan.

NEWS: Chicago/Main Shuttle Stop Relocation The southbound Intercampus Shuttle stop on the southwest corner of Chicago Avenue and Main Street will be temporarily relocated to the northwest corner of the intersection beginning Monday, April 9. More information is on our Transportation News page . The Intercampus shuttle provides service between Evanston and Chicago campuses.
