The FYI interest areas will help you in exploring careers because you will be able to quickly identify occupations that include more of the things you have indicated you like to do. Research has shown that people who choose occupations that support their values are generally more satisfied with their jobs. Understanding what you value about a job is also important in exploring various occupations and planning for your future. As you consider the importance of various work-related values (see the list below), ask your parents, school counselor, or other people you know in the working world about their work values. Your work values may change during different stages in your life. AMERICORPS PROFILES. AmeriCorps grants support organizations that sponsor national service programs to tackle community needs in education, veterans and military families, economic opportunity, health, environmental stewardship, and disaster services. Grants cover some of the cost of operation the program, in addition to a small stipend for the AmeriCorps member, which is matched by the recipient organization.
Programs which operate in one state only are funded through and supported by their Governor appointed state service commission. Multi-state programs and Indian Tribes programs are funded directly by the Corporation for National and Community Service. ServeAlabama functions as the Alabama Service Commission, making the office responsible for the administrative, fiscal and programmatic oversight, technical assistance and program development as well as the provision of cross stream training opportunities to national service providers in Alabama.
