Un internet des objets, comme le décrit Daniel Kaplan , délégué général de la Fing , qui ambitionne de transformer notre rapport au monde aussi profondément que l’internet d’aujourd’hui a transformé notre quotidien. L’écrivain de science-fiction Bruce Sterling est revenu sur les Spimes tels qu’il les définit dans son livre Shaping Things (2005, qui vient de paraître en français sous le titre Objets bavards ), ces objets à venir, contraction entre l’espace ( space ) et le temps ( time ).

Depuis les années 50, il est devenu le symbole de la société de consommation, parce qu’il est depuis longtemps l’objet technologique le plus répandu dans nos foyers : le réfrigérateur est l’incarnation de nos vies domestiques modernes. Pas étonnant qu’il soit devenu la figure emblématique de la maison du futur (voire cette rapide synthèse de prototypes de frigo intelligents existants ) et de l’internet des objets. Pas étonnant que, vu son omniprésence dans notre quotidien, pour beaucoup d’ingénieurs et de chercheurs en informatique ambiante, il soit devenu le meuble stéréotype, celui dont il faut impérativement penser le futur.

It can help in the annotation and categorization of documents and be used to model a person's current interests for improving search results, business intelligence or selecting appropriate advertisements. One approach is to associate a document with a set of topics selected from a fixed ontology or vocabulary of terms. We have investigated using Wikipedia's articles and associated pages as a topic ontology for this purpose. The benefits are that the ontology terms are developed through a social process, maintained and kept current by the Wikipedia community, represent a consensus view, and have meaning that can be understood simply by reading the associated Wikipedia page. We use Wikipedia articles and the category and article link graphs to predict concepts common to a set of documents.
