No-sew EL wire luna fairy wings costume tutorial. Hi everybody, this is Ladyada speaking! So far, I've been writing pretty much all the tutorials on the site but I'd like to introduce someone who is going to be doing some really really awesome EL projects and tutorials. First off is a fun costume project to make a pair of glowing-edged luna wings using EL wire! Take it away, Branden! Introduction I have always loved making things. This came fairly naturally since my parents are both supreme makers in their own right. Afer all they taught themselves how to do lost-wax casting so they could make their own wedding rings! In the years since then I've aquired the makings of a halfway decent wood shop and electronics bench, but mostly I've just tinkered. That changed in 2011 when my wife and I decided to celebrate our 10th anniversary by attending Burning Man. The first wings I made were cartoon-y butteryfly wings, but since then I've moved on to these more elegant luna moth wings.

What you'll need! ~5m of EL wire, copper tape and driver(s). Black Swan Costume and Makeup. Wow, I think this is such a beautiful interpretation of the Black Swan costume, put together by 'naughtynymph' (aka manicnymph). She won two costume contests with this creation. It's easy to see why. How did she do it? Take a look at the comments where she explains how in full detail. "My version of the Black Swan: * Masquerade Mask, black with glitter and large black ostrich plumes * Decorative black choaker * Black leotard with feathers, decorations and 'jewels' * Shiny black vinyl waist-cincher * Black tutu, handmade, with jewels and a TON of black feathers, especially at the waist * Traditional pink tights * Black (soft) leather ballet slippers with black ribbons (love the contrast with the pink legs!)

Lioness Costume..Grrrr | Creation | Cut Out. Find the lioness in you! I made the lion mane for Halloween last year. The rest of the costume was just a brown vest I bought from a thrift store, and a brown skirt and leggings I had already had.

Here is how to make the lion mane... 1) buy yarn in the colors you'd like (I bought two spools). Also, buy 2 brown fur boas. 2) cut off the neck and hood of an old hoodie, so you can slip it over your head but it also is attached and covers your neck 3) tie the yarn to your needle, and push through from the inside of the hoodie to the outside, then back in (to make a loop), and then cut the string and tie in a knot. *REPEAT step three about a thousand times! 4) Pin one of the boas on your skirt/pants/whatever for a tail. 5) Use eyeliner for your lion whiskers and makeup. Goldfish Costume | Creation | Cut Out. DIY Goldfish Costume Here is this year's Halloween costume. Actually, there were two (I was the tiger from "The Hangover" and my husband was Alan for another party)-- but this project is just about dressing up as a big goldfish. I got the idea from Woman's Day magazine, which my mom got me a subscription for a while back. When I was a kid, I used to love leafing through Woman's Day and Family Circle that she'd bring home from the grocery store.

My favorite issues were the Halloween themed ones, and they always featured really cute and creative DIY Halloween costume projects. The goldfish costume was slightly time consuming but it was fun putting together. I started with a men's Hanes 3XL orange hoodie. The eyes are a halved Styrofoam ball glued onto felt circles with Hold The Foam! The fins are made of felt. The bubbles are made from Christmas "picks" I got at a craft store. We went to Salem, MA and had loads of fun! Fun Fall Fairy | Creation | Cut Out. Halloween Instructables. Inspector Gadget Costume with Motorized Helicopter.
