Lace Ballet Skirt. * 1 yard of lace fabric …unless you want it longer, then measure appropriately {I had an almost square piece of vintage ivory lace} * Matching thread * Ribbon {color & size & texture of your choice} * Scissors, pins, tape measure * This is a simple drawstring style skirt. * Cut edges off lace, and into a circle of sorts.

Lace Ballet Skirt

I left the longer sides flat because cutting a full circle would have made the skirt shorter. If you want more of a mini skirt, a perfect circle would be more appropriate. * Lay out your lace and find the center. . * Continue cutting a perfect circle. . * Try on your skirt. . * Using your ribbon to determine the size of your waist band {drawstring tunnel}, fold your center circle fabric over it and pin in place. * To continue creating your drawstring tunnel, you’ll have to notch the fabric. . * This is the inside of your skirt * Hand stitch your drawstring tunnel flat in place. . * Flip your skirt right side out and try it on. Have Fun! Find my Hair Tutorial Here. Painted Journal. I love to spend my weekend mornings sipping coffee (in my mug I picked up this Summer while visiting the Eiffle Tower gift shop), flipping through fashion magazines looking for inspiration and writing in my journal.

Painted Journal

It’s the best way to relax and collect my thoughts. At the beginning of every year I always pick up a new blank journal and then spend the next 365 days filling with list, ideas and aspirations. Journals make for great gifts! Materials: Composition Notebook, Paint, Brushes I love color! Give yourself a blank canvas by adding a thin layer of bright white paint to the front cover.

Get creative! Mixed Fabric Denim Vest. Initially, I was going to do this little project on the side, but decided to photograph the steps for s&p anyway.

Mixed Fabric Denim Vest

It's a fun alternative to the usual band shirt vest! For my version I used some floral fabric from a thrifted shirt to make it a little more feminine. See how I made it below! Supplies: - Denim jacket - Printed fabric or shirt (preferably jersey or cotton) - Band shirt/graphic tee - Sewing pins and... - Coordinating sewing thread - Sewing machine or needle (if you're going to hand sew) - Fabric scissors It helps to choose a shirt that has a graphic that can be focused on the bottom or top. 1) Cut the sleeves off of the jacket, if you haven't already. 2) Cut the portion of the graphic that you want to use, so that it fits on the back of the vest. 3) Cut the printed fabric, enough to fill in the rest of the space left on the back. 4) Pin the fabric to the denim, all around the edges.

Stamped Geometric Jeans. I've been trying to figure out a way to spice up a pair of black jeans for a while, and I finally figured it out.

Stamped Geometric Jeans

The best part about this project is that you create your own stamp with thick cardboard, making it really inexpensive. I went with my classic fave of gold + black, but of course you can go a million different ways with this. Neon on white or alternating colors, maybe? See how I made it below! Supplies: - Solid colored pair of jeans (color of your choice) - Piece of thick cardboard - Scrap cardboard or an old magazine - Scissors & strong craft glue (like E6000) - Empty spool (or something along those lines) ...Several, if possible! I used thrifted empty wooden spools to make my stamp. 1) Iron the jeans, concentrating on any wrinkles along the side seams. 2) Using a ruler and pen/pencil, cut out a triangle (or whatever shape you'd like) on the thicker piece of cardboard. 4) Glue the cardboard shape onto one end of a spool.

The finished pair. Outfit Details: Happy Friday! Lace Shorts. If you happen to read either of the other blogs I write for, ( Minkette and M&J Blog ) you may have already seen this DIY, but it's been getting such a great response that I wanted to share it on here. I kept seeing this image of denim shorts with lace inserts all over Tumblr and Pinterest, but couldn't find a great tutorial for them anywhere.

Obviously there's a bajillion denim/lace DIYS out there right now but I thought the cute side inserts were pretty original. So... I had to take it upon myself to do a DIY and I must say I'm pretty pleased with the result! Check it out below.
