Humans can out-smile, out-smirk and out-glower every other animal on the planet, all thanks to an array of facial muscles lying just below the skin. The muscles flex and twitch throughout out the day whether we think about them or not. Lately, facial muscles have been getting a lot of attention. Many books, DVDs and websites claim that it's possible to lift sags, smooth out wrinkles and generally turn back the clock simply by giving the face a regular, vigorous workout. Carolyn's Facial Fitness, an exercise kit sold online for about $40, includes a DVD demonstrating 28 exercises that contort the face in ways you probably didn't know were possible, a CD to help pace the exercises and an instruction booklet.
Opioids have long been used to treat severe pain, though their use in the management of chronic pain remains somewhat controversial. Some people are able to tolerate opioids for years without any adverse effects, while others may become physically dependent or even develop a tolerance with regular use. Like most medications, opioids work differently for everyone. Opioids are a type of analgesic , or medication used to control pain sensations.

3. SHARP PAIN IN THE ABDOMEN What it feels like: All the metaphors apply—knife in the gut, bullet in the belly, skewer in the stomach—except this attack is from within. What it could be: Since the area between your ribs and your hips is jam-packed with organs, the pain can be a symptom of either appendicitis, pancreatitis, or an inflamed gallbladder. In all three cases, the cause is the same: Something has blocked up the organ in question, resulting in a potentially fatal infection.

By Lyndsey Layton Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, March 13, 2009; A04 More than half the baby shampoo, lotion and other infant care products analyzed by a health advocacy group were found to contain trace amounts of two chemicals that are believed to cause cancer, the organization said yesterday. Some of the biggest names on the market, including Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo and Baby Magic lotion, tested positive for 1,4-dioxane or formaldehyde, or both, the nonprofit Campaign for Safe Cosmetics reported. The chemicals, which the Environmental Protection Agency has characterized as probable carcinogens, are not intentionally added to the products and are not listed among ingredients on labels. Instead, they appear to be byproducts of the manufacturing process. Formaldehyde is created when other chemicals in the product break down over time, while 1,4-dioxane is formed when foaming agents are combined with ethylene oxide or similar petrochemicals.

Nearly one out of every 10 adults suffers from acid reflux, yet the condition is often not properly diagnosed and treated. Acid reflux or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) occurs when contents from the stomach flow back up into the esophagus, causing a painful burning sensation that can be incapacitating. In many cases, ignoring these symptoms, or treating them as simple heartburn, can lead to worsening pain and more serious medical issues. Doctors say that some simple remedies can help ease discomfort and control the effects of GERD.
