Studying Simon Sinek: Start With the Golden Circle. The Why: Simon Sinek. The Left-Siders. The world is a bell curve.

The Left-Siders

Class room test scores, employee performance in a company or how many people really, really like you. No matter the population you're studying, they always fit neatly across the standard deviations of the famous bell curve. The most important thing about the bell curve is that it is always balanced. If there are high performers on one side, there are low performers on the other. It is always balanced. If we look at our population at large, we know that there are some that don't seem to fit well within the majority...in the middle of the curve.

Small Is Special. It was a complete coincidence.

Small Is Special

My friend Jules Shell happened to be in Paris for a few days while I was there. She is a remarkable human being. She is the co-founder of Foundation Rwanda, an organization that funds the education of children born to the victims of rape during the 1994 Rwandan genocide and links their mothers to psychological & medical services (if you only give to one charity per month, please give to this one next month). Jules and I are always traveling and we never get to see each other, so it was a total treat that we were in the same city at the same time...and that it was Paris was a bonus. I took Sunday off and spent the day with Jules. This morning I awoke to an email from Jules.

Totally loved our time together. I love Jules’s desire to want to share what we had with lots of people so that lots of people can have as much fun as we had. There is something special about small. Simon Sinek: If You Don't Understand People, You Don't Understand Business

Sinek argues that as individuals and companies, everything that we say and do is a symbol of who we are. And it is only when we communicate our beliefs authentically that we can attract others to our cause, and form the bonds that will empower us to achieve truly great things. A trained ethnographer and the author of Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, Simon Sinek has held a life-long curiosity for why people and organizations do the things they do.

Studying the leaders and companies that make the greatest impact in the world and achieve a more lasting success than others, he discovered the formula that explains how they do it. Sinek recently became an adjunct staff member of the RAND Corporation, one of the most highly regarded think tanks in the world. Www.startwithwhy.com @simonsinek.
