FLAX helps automate the production and delivery of practice exercises for learning English.
Teachers can easily create exercises from the textual content of digital libraries. They can also create their own digital library collections, add them to their course as resources, and, optionally, share them within their institution. There is a tutorial introduction to FLAX here, in which you can login as a guest and do example exercises—and here is a FLAX sandbox course where you can create your own exercises and build your own digital library collection. Extensive documentation on the system appears in The book of FLAX (also available as PDF). FLAX Language Learning. Language Lab. There is a module for students to record themselves and teachers to review and grade the work. This version also includes a class monitor. So, if a teacher uses it inside the classroom, he/she can monitor student progress the same way they used the traditional language lab by listening to live streams of the students, responding live to students, giving a thumbs up and so on.It also offers an integration with the Moodle WYSIWYG, allowing recordings to be done virtually in any activity or resource wihtin Moodle.

PoodLL. New podcasting module for Moodle 2.1. I'm responding to this slightly old thread instead of starting a new one because I wasn't sure what the best place to start a new one is.
I've just updated to the newest version of pcast but am getting the following error every time I try to edit the description of a podcast: Error writing to database More information about this error The strange thing is that I got this error intially when I decided to add a podcast to my front page after not having used podcasts in Moodle for a couple of years.
I checked and saw that I wasn't using the newest version of the mod so I upgraded and after the upgrade was able to successfully create a podcast instance (with one word in the description field). The following is the debug message I get when I do this with debugging turned on: *****************start paste******************** Debug info: Data too long for column 'intro' at row 1UPDATE mdl_pcast SET name = ? ********************end paste************************** Regards Jason.
