Sugar Bee Crafts: Side Gathered Shirt - Tutorial - men's shirt refashion. Do you remember this shirt?? It's from a What-I-Wore-Wednesday,HERE, but it went CRAZY on Pinterest because people thought it was a tutorial. Well, for all you that have been waiting and waiting on this, NOW it's a tutorial - wahoo!! (awesome pose I have going, I know - but in the other picture my eyes were close, so you get this one) So, let's delve on in.... First you need a big tshirt. The original shirt was a pretty thin tshirt - you know, how some tshirts are regular feeling, and some are thin. So I knew I wanted a thin one so it would drape nicely. Anyways, once you have your shirt of choice, you'll also need elastic thread. Now, I made the side gathering first, and then altered the shirt to fit me. To gather the side, you are going to sew rainbows of loops.

It's several half-circles, all looped. Phew, done! Here is what the underneath side looks like - you can kind of see the loops if you look close: Now, time to alter the shirt to fit - - here's the size difference: Sugar Bee Crafts: DIY Chevron Pencil Skirt. You read that right - DIY Chevron Pencil Skirt - and I mean "DIY Chevron" in that you have to make your own zig zag fabric. Yup. It was fun. You should do it. But remind me not to make it again for a while - it takes a bit of time... So for a Valentine's Post, I wanted to do something that would work for Valentine's, but also work for everyday, hence the idea for this skirt was born....but chevron, or zig zag, fabric is a little hard to come by.

I thought it'd fun to attempt to make some. I'm sure there are lots of tutorials on this and I probably should have looked one up...but oh well. First you need striped fabric. Then to make it easier to cut I folded it back on itself and cut the fold into strips. Then you need to cut strips from the other side - that way some of your strips have lines slanting up and some have lines slanting down.

Then comes the sewing - it's not hard, just a little tedious. At this point I wrapped it around myself - very un-technical way to measure. Elastic Waistband Skirt For Spring. Coral Dress. Tired of shirt dresses? Me neither. Here is a dress I created with a $3 top from Forever 21 and some coral jersey fabric. So I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I didn't take step by step pictures when I made this dress, but the good news is that I used the exact same method that I did on my lavender dress. I did make a few slight changes though. #1. . #2. . #3. *Word to the wise: It was very tough working with such stretchy material. Coral Dress.
