North East research helps learning disabled - I Love NCL. Tyneside-based assistive technology specialist e-Quality Learning paired up with Northumbria University’s Centre for Design Research to investigate the impacts of various cognitive and sensory disabilities, to create a specific learning model to maximise the level of training services to this audience. As a result of the North-East led research, the company is now delivering over 2,500 hours of training per month to people with learning disabilities with 72% reporting vastly improved confidence following this new method of assistive technology training. The new training approach is helping people to continue within higher education without feeling too overwhelmed by this process. Furthermore, it is helping them gain improved qualifications to increase chances of getting into employment and overcome barriers associated with their disabilities.
