By printing with Digital Materials, the Connex500™ allows you to print parts with specific Shore A values to match the values of the intended production materials.
This capability opens up new opportunities, bringing you much closer to realizing the final product at an early stage, including feasibility testing and over-molding process simulation. Parts produced on the Connex500™ have smooth and durable surfaces, with exceptionally fine details and an outstanding surface finish. The superior productivity, high quality output and unique multi-material printing capabilities of the Connex500™ enable you to closely emulate the look, feel and function of an exceptionally wide variety of end products.
Connex500 3D Printer Features & Benefits Closer-than-ever simulation of end 3D model products. Objet500 Connex Multi-Material 3D Printer. The Full Range of Materials in a Large Build The Objet500 Connex offers all of the power of pioneering Connex multi-material 3D printing in a build envelope of 500 x 400 x 200mm (19.7 × 15.7 × 7.9 in.) — large enough to support large models or many parts. Using patented simultaneous multi-material PolyJet technology, the Objet500 Connex can 3D print models with up to 14 different materials in a single job. This provides a realistic rendering of the final product. The system is ideal for designers and engineers looking to effectively demonstrate the varying material components in complex or assembled products.
Image Gallery Materials From an unrivalled range of more than 100 materials, including as many as 90 digital materials created on the fly, the Objet500 Connex enables you to simulate diverse mechanical and physical properties, from rubber to rigid; opaque to transparent; and standard to ABS-grade. May 31, 2012 As part of a larger puzzle cube that was given out at this year's RAPID show - The visitors to the show could collect all the pieces from multiple exhibitors to form the finished puzzle, Objet showcased its pieces printed on their Connex500 printer.
These pieces are small but printed in incredibly details. Various opaque 3D printed objects are suspended inside a 3D printed transparent body and they are printed in a single print job. This is a good example showing off Objet Connex500 3D printer and its capacity. The printer can print objects in details at a 16 micron resolution and can print with up to 14 materials in a single step. Last year Objet displayed a fully-sized, precisely-scaled human toddler (minus legs) – that is the craziest 3D prints - you can see all internal bone structure! This particular model was printed on the Objet Connex500 3D printer and stands 48cm off the ground, weighing in at around 10kg.

The 16ft 8in [5.08m] long Kayak is made of ABS plastic, machine screws, brass threaded inserts and a little bit of silicone caulk. Jim has been working on 3D printing technology since 2008. In 2010 he designed a low-cost 3D printer with an incredible build volume of 403x403x322mm (16x16x13"). There have been many modifications afterwards including a higher resolution print head, build surfaces and control electronics.
In 2013 the printer has been upgraded to have a heater build chamber in order to print soild ABS plastic parts with no qarping or cracking. Largest section of the kayak, section 15, on the build plate The Kayak is comprised of 28, 3D printed sections. "This design was initially based on the Siskiwit Bay kayak by Bryan Hansel, but heavily modified for 3D printing. Sealing section joints with silicone The total cost is only about $500.
