The focus of this site is to enhance citizen awareness, visitors and neighbors with valuable information about our county and the programs that the Bamberg County Government has to offer. Bamberg County strives to keep residents as well as all interested individuals up to date on news and current events occurring within the county. This web site provides a vehicle for all to learn of the latest information and schedule of events throughout the County. Bamberg County lies in the southwestern part of South Carolina in the upper and middle Coastal Plain.
Bamberg County operates within the “Council-Administrator” form of Government. This form of government appoints a professional public administrator to be the administrative head of the county government. Oversees preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for the council, and requires such reports, estimates and statistics as necessary from county departments and agencies Responds to requests for information and or assistance from individuals, business and private organizations, other governments and community groups • Works with elected officials (local, state and national) to ensure that all County departments are operating in the most efficient and effective way to provide services and accountability to the County’s taxpayers (citizens) The County Administrator does not:

The Clerk to Council serves as the legislative official for County Council. The Clerk to Council prepares the agenda for County Council meetings; records Council's proceedings, processes ordinances, resolutions, and proclamations; is the custodian of the County seal; maintains minute books and County Code of Ordinances; attests and certifies official documents on behalf of the County; advertise public hearings, meetings and legal notices; and performs all duties as required by the South Carolina Code of Laws. The Treasurer's Office collects real, personal, motor vehicle and other taxes and oversees their disbursement to county government, municipalities, schools and special taxing districts in Bamberg County. This office also maintains records of all revenues collected. The treasurer serves as the custodian for funds of most county departments. These departments deposit their funds with the treasurer who invests these monies, along with tax collections, to generate additional revenues for the county in the form of interest earnings. This office provides notification of taxes due for taxpayers, generates refund checks to taxpayers for overpayments, acts as paying agent for bond and other debt issues for the county and special districts, collects fees on behalf of the State, pays over to State agencies and provides information to the public and legal professionals.
