I was able to meet some ladies that I’ve become friends with on Facebook over the past couple of years. It was so good to be able to finally give them a squeeze in person, have them in my home and meet my family, to “break bread” and laugh until our sides felt like splitting. A few of them are designers, one of which you may already know very well through my work here, Ms. Kiki Fluhr of The Measure, also Juliet Carey of Maya’s Curls and Jayme Lillie of Lillipops Designs. I literally spent the day relaxing yesterday and although I could potentially be a couch potato again today because this weather just makes me want to crawl up and be a hermit, with a full night’s sleep I am ready to start the week full throttle–and that means it’s time to start blogging in high gear!

She is too young, right? She persisted. And on a whim, we caved.

She learned to ride a bike without her training wheels in about ten minutes. Maybe we should trust her instincts better next time. Maybe we just don’t want her to grow up. “what accomplishment looks like” She had an absolutely adorable cheer squad! What to wear for family portraits » Kristen Duke Photography. I’ve been chatting on my facebook page, helping my readers plan for their family portraits. I LOVE designing clothing for a photo shoot, especially the challenge of coordinating, instead of matchy-matching with a family.

The bigger the family, the more fun the challenge! I was helping a friend shop last week for clothing for her family portraits, because the idea just overwhelmed her. She decided on grays and blacks (great for winter photos), and I suggested a splash of color…but what color? Here are some fun clothing suggestions ideas I’ve found online: A touch of YELLOW… {source} Now, before you get all crazy about where to buy this stuff, the link above is from a year ago, and the items are likely unavailable now. Here is a splash of yellow on REAL people: love those peekaboo yellow tights, hint of yellow shoes, yellow shirt poking out of the mans plaid shirt–LOVE!

For Nicole Klingler of True Atelier Photography, her artist’s workroom is full of her beautiful images she captures with her camera in Idaho.

Nicole’s work is beautiful and as you can see from the photos below, light is a major factor in making her photos unique. She does a beautiful job of finding the lovely light and using it to her advantage in her photo shoots. For this shoot, her client wanted something editorial so they decided on a concept/theme and utilized the season to bring this theme to life. By incorporating fall colors and props that included baskets and bowls of colorful vegetables, this theme came to life. Read below to find out more about Nicole and this photo shoot she shared with Seniorologie.

What was your inspiration for the photo shoot? ~ The season was the inspiration for the 2nd part to Tricia’s senior shoot. Where did this photo shoot take place? ~ Yes! For those of you that may read my blog who are more interested in the technical side of photography, more so than just looking at the pictures, I really want to share some of what I have learned along the way with you! People often ask me what kind of equipment I use when shooting. Two or three years ago, I would have said something completely different, but after working in the field a while, I have come to realize the significance in quality equipment.

And by that I mean, unfortunately, very expensive. After using a variety of different camera bodies and lenses, I have witnessed the extreme difference in quality. I feel much more confident with the work I can produce with a quality set up. . - Canon 5D Mark II (my camera), Canon 5D (Sterling’s camera, secondary shooter) – Both of these camera bodies are pristine! - Canon 24 mm 1.4L - Wide! - Canon 50mm 1.2L – Crisp, creamy, fast auto-focus, super shallow depth of field, perfect for low light, portraiture and details!

They were so sweet- and soft spoken, but so funny and loads of fun! They are such a GORGEOUS couple! Seriously. I can not wait until they start having babies (amiright Dhen!?) Because they are going to be the most beautiful babies!!! Seriously! Beautiful bouquet by Heirloom Rose of Schoolcraft, MI. Right before the ceremony- I love that you can tell that Dhen doesn’t take this lightly- that this is a super important day Learning how to tie a bow-tie, via YouTube!

These guys are seriously the best dressed groom and groomsmen ever. The shot below was immediately following the ceremony: I love the Dhen & Kelvin went with the classic, simple, and elegant wedding reception. A lot of the decor for this event was rented from Events by I Candy- they are amazing- and to quote my bride “The shoppe is like every brides dream come true!” I also want to mention the personalized instagram hashtag- LOVED that idea!
