JayRHenley : 12 Free #Social Media #Hacks ... Content Marketing Strategy: 12 Ways to Hack Social Media. It’s no secret that social media is a great and leading traffic source for many businesses but not everyone is getting it right. This is the reason why Gary Vaynerchuk, in his talks, constantly makes a case about using social media as a native story telling platform and not the distribution channel.

While I agree with his argument, I also believe that businesses are not doing the distribution part right and there are hacks with which you can use social media as a native distribution channel instead of a native story telling platform because let’s be honest, not every company has or can figure out the story they want to tell. Using these hacks we can take full advantage of the intricacies associated with each social network so that we maximize our content marketing efforts so that on each network our message has the possibility to: Get more attention.Receive more click-throughs, likes, retweets and shares.Maximize reachCreate a competitive advantage over competitors.

Facebook Hacks 1. 2. 3. If You Publish Content and Don't Promote It, Will Anyone See It? (Infographic) If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? The same could be said about a content-marketing strategy, when it comes to optimizing the elements of a company's blog or other website copy for sharing.

If you publish content without a plan for its distribution, it certainly won’t get noticed. Then all the time and effort put into the work are lost. That's unless, of course, you want your blog to remain a private journal. The performance of that content online can be affected by little changes in the call to action, optimizing the web copy for search, adjusting the post's timing, using images and even where social-media buttons are placed. The infographic below explains some basic points to consider for your blog and content-marketing plan. This month we kicked off our Content Standard case study project, introducing you to an ongoing series where we discuss everything we learned during the relaunch of our media property. Today, we will talk about content creators, why you need them, and how to build relationships with them. Strategy is only one piece of the content marketing equation. Another major aspect is creative execution. Without the right storytellers, the Content Standard wouldn’t provide any value to our audience. We had spent months developing new media property with the mission of spreading thought leadership and sparking meaningful conversations within our community. Our design efforts had paid off. Now we had this huge site to manage and fill with great content. Where Do You Find Good Storytellers? Whenever I’m talking with a brand marketer, I always ask how he or she finds freelance writers.

When we suggest that marketers should think like journalists, we don't mean you should start hacking phone calls and selling kidneys to get the next big scoop. Trust me, having worked as a journalist in some capacity for more than six years, I can tell you that not all journalists are like that (and besides, I no longer have the technology for that line of work.

Or any kidneys, for that matter). What we mean is that marketers should adopt the same practices that great magazine journalists do in order to produce engaging and sharable content. This involves preparing your content well in advance, building relationships with your audience and telling valuable stories that people want to read. Think of your customers as subscribers. In order for your brand to have the same impact online, here are four reasons why you should start thinking like a journalist when it comes to your content marketing. How to Extend The Shelf Life Of Large Volumes Of Branded Content 07/25/2014. Over the last few years, brands and businesses in all vertical markets have had their eyes opened to developing their content marketing strategies.

Every brand marketer has a story to tell, and through quality content, they can tell those stories in a deeper and more engaging way than in traditional display advertising. Through content, brands can reach consumers where those consumers want to be and want to recognize themselves: in stories that are relevant to the right consumer at the right moment. That’s great: they’re developing the content they need. Brand storytelling is an art and a discipline, and it requires strategies for targeting consumers at all points in the path to conversion. Repurposing and recycling content is important to increase its mileage, but it’s also not new. Go beyond personalizing content: Target it. Jonathan Henley: Shape-shift your Content. Popular Today in Business: All Popular Articles A few weeks ago, I likened the process of creating a content strategy to planning for a rim-to-rim rafting expedition at The Grand Canyon. A solid analogy, to be sure, but deeper reflection led to the realization that it’s actually more like climbing to a specific peak on a mountain: one ambitious, overarching goal sitting atop a solid foundation of objectives, strategies and tactics.

When you set a lofty goal like climbing to the top of a mountain (or, say, increasing your lead-nurturing list by 100%) it’s daunting to think about how to track and manage your daily activities in a way that guarantees you’re actually moving the needle toward the goal. Luckily, there’s a framework to help simplify the process… and it’s not as scary as it sounds. It’s not exactly clear who developed the G.O.S.T. model, though it appears to be most commonly employed by PR practitioners with regard to their communications plans. G: set a goal. G.O.S.T.
