How to Plant an Avocado Tree: 14 steps. Some growers find that placing the seed in water to sprout it risks producing a long, leggy tree that fails to fruit.
In this case, it is better to place the seed in the ground without soaking first. 1Obtain a good quality avocado fruit. Cut the fruit flesh away from the seed. It is easiest to cut it the long way around. 2Twist the seed to remove it. Whack it with a knife, then twist, and the seed will come out. 3Find the pointed end of the seed. this is the top of the seed. 4Choose a planting locale.
How to Grow a Pineapple Top Indoors. Once roots appear, plant the pineapple in a fast draining potting soil such as a Bromeliad or Cactus Potting Soil mixed with a third perlite.
An eight-inch porous clay pot with bottom drainage is ideal. Layer about two inches of stones in the bottom of the pot prior to putting in the soil/perlite mix. The picture to the left illustrates the materials needed (the two pottery shards in the front are to put over the drainage holes; these came from an extra clay saucer that I broke up). The first step is to cover the drainage hole with the pottery shard.
Second, put in a layer of stones followed by the soil and perlite mix. In terms of watering, the soil should always be slightly moist; not wet (which will promote rot) and not dry. After about two months, the pineapple should be supporting itself as a new plant. At this point you should notice that the original leaves of the pineapple will begin to die and turn brown, with new leaves beginning to grow at the center. How To Grow Ginger? She had green onions in some water in her kitchen. I thought she was a little crazy when she told me that you can grow green onions in just water - so then I had to go find out for myself. And she's not crazy... you really can! I cut mine on Friday and then photo'ed them again today (Monday). Supposedly you just need at least 1/2 inch of root to grow and they should keep growing about 3-4 more times after you keep cutting them. Mine just sat on the kitchen counter that doesn’t get any direct sunshine.
