The best suggestion I can make is figure out what sort of trips you expect to take (duration & conditions), and what backpacking style you will use (ultra-light, light weight, hut2hut / hostelling, medium/heavy weight). What you are carrying effects how much volume you will need, and how substantial the suspension system needs to be. Beside the backpack being able to hold everything you need it to, the most important thing is to find the pack which is comfortable when holding the load you plan on carrying. I can't stress enough how important getting a comfortable backpack can be.
