It’s no great secret that Nokia has been eyeing the tablet market. Today brings confirmation that the company is actually developing hardware for it. Asked by Finnish magazine Kauppalehti Optio if Nokia is building a tablet, Marko Ahtisaari — the company’s top designer — replied, “We’re working on it,” adding that he devotes about a third of his time to the effort. Not a surprise, really. Launching a Windows 8 tablet is an obvious move for Nokia, one that its leadership has hinted at in the past. Indeed, CEO Stephen Elop made it clear last year that he feels Nokia’s hardware portfolio should extend beyond just handsets. http://allthingsd.com/20120315/yes-nokia-is-building-a-tablet/

The original iPad may have launched way back in the mists of early 2010, but it's only now that there is a plethora of genuine iPad alternatives to choose from. Nvidia's Tegra 2 CPU has been the driving force in a new generation of dual-core Android 3.0 tablets, while wildcard alternatives like the TouchPad and the PlayBook also sprung up running completely different operating systems. We now stand on the brink of the next-next generation of tablets. Nvidia's Tegra 3 CPU will imminently cross the streams with Google's Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 OS and give birth to a raft of exciting new products.
