Timelines are incredibly powerful visual tools and can significantly enhance an eLearning experience. In this article, I'll share the top 10 free timeline creation tools so that you can create your own timelines without even touching your eLearning budget. Timelines are graphical representations of a period of time, on which important moments or events are marked alongside the dates that these events have happened.

They can be vertical, comparative, interactive, in a sense that learners are required to click on the time period to know about the event and vice versa, or they can include images and graphics. Obviously they are incredibly powerful visual tools that can be used not only in education, such as displaying a list of historical events, but also in the corporate world to explain a work process, highlight important details, or show the progression of a product or service.

How to Create and Market a Children’s Book App – Presentation Highlights. This past weekend I travelled to San Francisco to speak with a group of workshop participants attending Karen Robertson’s training on “How to Create & Market a Children’s Book App“. Karen is the author of several great resources on making and marketing book apps for kids, including an online course called “book app academy“. Karen created the Treasure Kai picture book apps and was very inspirational by sharing wisdom from her own sharp learning curve as well as a nice roadmap for new content creators in this very young industry. I highly recommend her two ebooks for anyone considering self-publishing a children’s book app: Author’s Guide to Book Apps and How to Market a Book App.

The presentations and panel were exceptional, but the participants attending the workshop were equally interesting and talented. Meeting so many creative folks in one room (in real physical space) was energizing in a way online interaction still cannot match. Trends in the market are fast and furious. 8 Overlooked Useful YouTube Tools. When most people think about YouTube they think sharing videos and or about all of the videos they can discover. Most people don't think about the useful editing tools that are built into YouTube.

The YouTube video editor has some useful features for teachers and students. 1. Create photo slideshows. The YouTube photo slideshow creation tools allow you to specify the length of time that each image is displayed for. After uploading your images you can use the annotations tool to add as much text as you like to each frame of your video. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Beautiful and easy to use newsletters | Smore. Kirkwood Learning - EdTech, iPads & Tech PD: Adding multiple events to Google Calendar using a spreadsheet. Adding individual events to a Google Calendar can be annoying and time consuming.

But there's a super easy way! Using a simple spreadsheet in the form of a CSV file you can upload as many events at one time into any of the calendars that you manage. There is one big warning! Be careful when you set it up as there are only two ways to delete the events you put in, either delete the whole calendar or delete the events one at a time. In that regard I'd advise adding a new calendar to house all of your new events, or at least test the file in a temporary "Test Calendar". Click here to download a copy of the CSV file These are the basic instructions, there is also a step by step YouTube instruction video below. There is a second video at the bottom of this post that shows you how to set up the spreadsheet to accommodate multi day timetables (like a 6 day cycle) that don't stick to the days of the week.

Hopefully this will save you quite a lot of time! Icon Archive. 8 Web Apps To Create Animation Gif. With the help of GIF, you can easily showcase how you actually feel. Socrative. A Very Good Checklist for Assessing 21st Century Learning Skills. January 29, 2015 Here is another great resource from Dr. Jackie Gerstein, one of our favourite EdTech bloggers. Jackie designed this beautiful chart featuring 12 attributes and skills that teachers should tend to in their instruction. You can use it as a self-assessment checklist to help you evaluate your teaching practice. What I like the most about this chart is the fact that it emphasizes the social and affective component in learning, something which is often overlooked in today’s digitally-focused learning paradigms. These mechanical skill-based and market-oriented paradigms reduce students to ‘cheerful robots’ and view pedagogy as ‘merely a skill, technique, or disinterested method’ to teach pre specified subject matter' (Giroux, 2011). Jackie's set of attributes featured in this chart chime in with Giroux's view of education as a way of producing citizens who are 'critical, self-reflective, knowledgeable and willing to make moral judgements and act in a socially responsible way.'
