What Are Pallets? 19 DIY Creations That Really Stack Up Article by Marc, filed under Furniture & Decor in the Design category. What are pallets? And why should anyone care? Is a good question being asked a lot since Pinterest came into popularity. Pallets are used and abused wooden platforms used in conjunction with machines to move heavy loads around warehouses and stores. (Images via homedit, homedit, decoist) A classy wood dining table can add a simple, rustic look to decor. (Images via mommyapolis, homedit, arninglaws) Now these are coffee tables! (Images via shadesoflight, homedit) The Victorian style of having library walls covered in rich, old growth forest wood, polished to a sheen and carved into intricate designs is just not that practical any more.

(Images via homedit, domesticdoozie, wilsonandpugs) A little creativity can turn a pallet into the perfect addition to a kitchen. (Images via brainstorm, homivo, muttonhead) The possibilities of pallet furniture are endless. MAGAZINE ENVELOPES. 18K+ Well I got this idea from our friend Nina. She was making these super cute envelopes out of scrapbook paper and I really wanted to make some! So I came home and made some! They are so so SO simple and add a personal touch to your envelopes. You will need: An old magazine, scissors, an envelope, a glue stick and a Sharpie. Tear out some magazine pages that you like. Carefully pull the envelope apart. Trace the envelope on a magazine page. Cut the envelope shape out. Turn the envelope over as well as the magazine cut-out. Unfold everything and separate the magazine cut-out from the envelope. Glue the bottom flap down to the two side flaps. And you've made your own envelope!

The great thing about making these envelopes our of magazine pages is that the envelopes have a character all of their own. Posts in the Crafts Category at The Frugal Girls. UPDATE: The long weekend is the perfect time to start some new projects, so why not try this awesome (and so easy) artwork DIY? This story was originally published on July 25. If there are two things that have been commanding our attention lately, they're cool artwork and chevron prints. So, we were obviously pretty stoked to find a way to incorporate both — for cheap! — in an amazing DIY project for your apartment. Inspired by the work of artist Nancy Ramirez, two stellar Refinery29 interns collaborated on this easy-does-it way to spice up an empty wall.

From the moment we spied this Nancy Ramirez painting on Pinterest, we were smitten. Assemble your paints and squeeze a quarter-size amount of each color onto your palette. To incorporate all of our colors, we used one at a time, rinsing our brush between each and blending until we covered the canvas. Once you've covered the canvas, let it dry for a few minutes. Et voilà! Photographed by Maia Schoenfelder.

Kitchen. Versatile IKEA Pieces for the Home | BHG Centsational Style. Written on September 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm , by Kate I discovered IKEA five or six years ago and ever since I did, I’ve been a big fan of their affordable products. We’ve turned their Billy bookcases into built in shelving, used IKEA kitchen cabinets to make a window seat, and their Vittsjo shelves to store books and games too. IKEA products have been popping in homes featured in Better Homes and Gardens for years! Some of their units have been discontinued but other popular pieces like the Expedit and the Maskros ceiling pendant are still available. IKEA’s Expedit shelf is a popular choice for its contemporary clean lines and functionality. Since the piece is finished on both sides, it works equally well as a room divider. Consider it for your collection of dishes, bowls, and ceramics for an open display in a dining space.

Stand it straight up to maximize vertical space in a small room in need of storage. Here are 12 very versatile IKEA staples for the home! How To Use a Stencil With Stain. You guys, I am so excited to share how my doors turned out. It's exactly what I envisioned in my head. I love it when that happens! The process was pretty simple too, which is another bonus. I think with the popularity of stencils these days most of you are pretty familiar with how to stencil with paint, right? I've even spent my fair share of time stenciling, but I wanted this to be different. I really wanted to maintain the linear look of the wood grain that continues across all the cabinets, and paint would just mess it up. I got the idea from deep in the storage banks of my brain. With the wood glue being pretty much clear it can be a little difficult to see where you have already stenciled. When you're happy with your stenciling and the glue has dried it is time to stain!

Once I finished staining the front I took another t-shirt rag that was dry and rubbed the surface to soak up any extra stain that was just sitting on top. Here that are, all back where they belong!
