The Phase Collective | Free Reign Creativity | Design, Art, Music, Culture, Creativity
The Phase Collective Blog has launched!!! We've made the shift from our original big old PDF magazine publishing format (put together frantically in our limited spare time, with months and months passing in between releases), to a more regular flow of showcased creativity from cool people all around the world. Swing by often for new servings of free-reign creativity, and send us your work/thoughts if you want to get involved...!Today's Inspiration
Here's the earliest piece I have by Canadian illustrator, James Hill. This was done for MacLean's magazine, May 1952. Hill would have been in his early 20's at this time, and already getting assignments on a regular basis from Canada's leading magazines, his work being seen by the public from coast to coast. Hill once told an interviewer, "Back in the early 1950s, many of us had dreams of becoming "star" magazine illustrators like Al Parker [or] Robert Fawcett." "We poured over the pages of Collier's, Redbook, the Journal and Companion, admiring the work of the established artists and envying the new names whose credits appeared."Sculptures

Human beings have been tracking the passage of time for more than 6,000 years. From the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, and Mayans, up to present-day, we have continued to refine systems that enable us to organize the passage of days, months, and years.
