Data fiends should bookmark this post for future reference. Stats are important –but on their own, they don’t tell us much Stats on social networks are important, but don’t rely on them alone.

Data is like fire, it can be used for good and bad, proper insight and analysis is always required. Beyond that, you’ll often see conflicting stats across the industry as everyone has different methodologies, as a result, this listing will help you to see the greater trends –not numbers without context. How to interpret stats Numbers don’t tell us much without insight and interpretation, in fact, you’re going to see conflicting numbers of usage from many of the agencies and social networks themselves.

A Collection of Social Network Stats for 2010 I’ll be updating this post throughout the year, bookmark it, and share it with others. Facebook. By Daniel Scocco Sooner or later most of us need to collect some Internet statistics. Over the years I came across several websites that provide these stats, and I decided to list the best ones in this post. 1.

As our digital and physical lives blur further, the internet has become the information hub where people spend a majority of their time learning, playing and communicating with others globally. Digital marketing professionals understand this, but most outside the industry don’t realize just how staggering the numbers are of people collaborating, researching, and interacting on the web. I thought it might be fun to take a step back and look at some interesting/amazing social media, Web 2.0, crowdsourcing and internet statistics.

I tried to find stats that are the most up-to-date as possible at the time of publishing this post. The numbers presented below should be a close representation of today’s numbers (please correct me in the comments if you find more recent numbers somewhere and I’ll update). Let’s break them down by section: Google search stats: 1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion) – approximate number of unique URLs in Google’s index (source) Wikipedia stats (source) YouTube stats source. Gap Reverts to Original Logo After Social Media Backlash. Gap has announced on its Facebook Page that it is scrapping its new logo design efforts, acquiescing to a torrent of criticism coming primarily from Facebook and Twitter users. Last week, Gap unveiled a new logo, one it called "a more contemporary, modern expression. " The retailer's customers were not so thrilled about the change, and Gap decided to ask users for their logo design ideas instead.

However, that course of action has now been reversed, as well. "Ok. According to Gap, the original logo will make its return "across all channels. " The backlash against Gap's new (and now defunct) logo was intense. While social media wasn't the only reason that Gap felt compelled to revert to the old logo, it definitely was a major factor. Source: Shutterstock The Future of the Social Web is here today and we’re learning that engagement is not a matter of if or when, but to what extent, how and what value can we deliver and derive from it. The Social Web is much more than a window into information and interaction, it is a completely transformative medium that is changing how we forge relationships, interact with one another, and distribute and discover information. In many ways, the online social revolution is reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution.

Access to free and expansive media platforms and distribution channels has democratized influence and shifted the power of authority from those who previously controlled the media to those who disseminate it. Attention has become a precious commodity as it becomes increasingly elusive and diverted. As consumers, we are starting to fathom that our attention is valuable. The battle for attention begins where your attention is focused. Now is the time to pay attention. Understanding the Influence Metric: What is a Klout Score? Fred Reichheld, Author, The Ultimate Question: Are You Doing Net Promoter? You don’t need to inhale to be doing Net Promoter. You don’t need to ask only one ultimate question.

You don’t even need to call it Net Promoter. To be a Net Promoter practitioner, there are just three things your organization needs to be doing: 1. Systematically categorizing customers into promoters, passives, or detractors. If you prefer, you can call them loyal advocates, fair-weather friends, and adversaries. 2. Creating closed-loop processes so that the right employees will directly investigate the root causes that drive customers into these categories. 3. If you are doing these three things, you are doing NPS. What about the ultimate question—wasn’t that the title of the book? In fact we might have called the book The Net Promoter System, except that few readers were familiar with the term “Net Promoter” when the book was published. More common than companies doing NPS and claiming not to be are the numerous firms now claiming that they are doing NPS when in fact they are not.

Is Net Promoter Really the Ultimate Question? | Fast Company. Are you asking the right questions? At the heart of any good research inquiry, of course, is the quality and ultimate value of the questions you ask. Over the last 11 years, CDW’s Vass has worked diligently to refine the questions his company asks, by listening to feedback from research professionals, his CDW coworkers and even the customers themselves. Rather than depend on one question, CDW’s loyalty index was modeled on a three question approach developed by Walker Information and Net Promoter‘s question, invented by Fred Reichheld. The questions explore, according to Vass, “different dimensions of the relationship; what the customer plans to purchase with us, if they are committed and what they would do if we went away.” Explained Vass, “Net Promoter is a one-dimensional kind of metric; one will often get better, more consistent results by asking more questions.”

Www./~dbs/stories/power.html. Comes Now the Power Roger Zelazny (c)1966 by Health Knowledge, Inc --------------------------------------------------------- Authors Notes, taken from The Last Defender of Camelot I wrote this story on one of the blackest days in my memory, a day of extreme wretchedness accompanied by an unusual vuest of writing activity--which I encouraged, to keep from thinking about what was bothering me. I sat down and did three short stories, one after the other without leaving the typewriter. They were 'Divine Madness,' this one, and 'But Not the Herald.' I later put the other two into my collection The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth, and Other Stories (Doubledays title--not mine; I had suggested Hearts & Flowers) and I would have included this one there, too, save that I could not locate a copy at the time I assembled the manuscript.

I cannot be certain whether Peter De Vries' The Blood of the Lamb was on my mind then, just a little thought I know I'd read it before that time. James Baldwin - Biography, Works, and Message Board. James Baldwin. According to his biography in the Junior Book of Authors (1951), Baldwin, a native of Indiana and largely self-educated, began teaching at the age of 24. After several years he became superintendent of the graded schools in Indiana, a post he held for 18 years. The last 37 years of his life he worked with publishers, first with Harper and Brothers and later with the American Book Company. In addition to editing school books, he started writing books of his own.

After the publication in 1882 of The Story of Siegfried, he went on to write more than 50 others. His influence was widely felt because at one time it was estimated that of all the school books in use in the United States, over half had been written or edited by him. Unfortunately, his works are much less widely known today. Books. In My Youth by James Baldwin. YRC Logistics (UK) Ltd - RSS Newsfeed. Customs Brokerage Tools | Import Like a Customs Broker. To design a web-site in user-friendly tones, presenting all information and removing unnecessary details isn’t easy.

In fact, many designers don’t manage to find the right mix between details and their presentation on the screen, which usually results in an information overkill and/or decreased usability. However, some designers do manage to find the right balance and create usable, elegant and clean web-sites with simple layouts.
