Blackberry Tongues : Hodgepodge Records. Think Twice feat. Ciel Rouge by TheLoveExperiment. Henry Cow - Unrest. I really don't know much about Henry Cow. Unrest is the only album I've heard by them. But it's a masterpiece of an album, and even if the rest of their stuff is garbage (which it likely isn't), they deserve to be praised based on Unrest alone. I do know two things about Henry Cow: they were contemporaries of the Soft Machine and they were a band, not just some guy named Henry.

The album Unrest sounds a bit like Third-era Soft Machine (post-singing) but with more free-jazz overtones. There are basically two types of songs in this album- those that are dominated by frenetic drumming and wailing, scatterbrained guitar solos ("Bitter Storm Over Ulm," "Half Asleep; Half Awake," "Upon Entering the Hotel Adlon"), and those that take direction via the bassoon ("Solemn Music," "Linguaphonie," "Arcades"). Unrest, indeed. Henry Cow - Unrest (1974) Here's a video of the band playing Phil Ochs' "No More Songs," one of the most depressing songs from an arsenal full of depressing songs.

Robert Fripp String Quintet Live Japan 1992 full Concert. Astro Can Caravan - Meteor Shower Gel - Last.fm. Super Fusion Blog. March 2012. Adrian Belew. The Love Experiment. Playlist: Bow down to Dean Bowman. Long after I’ve burned out on blogging and quit, you should remember one name: Dean Bowman. Dean Bowman. Dean Bowman. He is a great vocal talent... and yet, one of America’s best-kept secrets. I have pointed to Bowman’s work with the funk-rock band Screaming Headless Torsos (here and here). But he has recorded with a worldwide array of eclectic artists – jazz players, hip-hop producers, alternative- rock songwriters.

Bowman has chops to suit any task. He can scat like a bebopper. Hell, I’m ready to put on robes and follow this dude! And yet Dean Bowman hasn’t put out an album under his own name. Herewith, I offer a selection of recordings featuring Dean Bowman vocals. 1. This moody track is from a Danish hip-hop producer named Peder. 2. Old-school spiritual meets underground hip-hop. 3. A dark and compelling song-story from Austrian Fred Eisler’s 2005 CD “Camena to the Fallen.” 4. Leave it to the late Lester Bowie to remake a Notorious B.I.G. hit with a jazz ensemble. 5. 6. SHT --- Word To Herb --- 1996. Dengue Fever- Sleepwalking Through The Mekong.
