All About Getting Into The Rubber Stamp Business. Every business and most households use rubber stamps routinely – they are accepted as a necessary part of life. Although there are several variations (self-inking, impregnated rubber), the "old fashioned hit the ink pad" type is still far and away the most popular — and is likely to remain so for the future.

Making rubber stamps can be both interesting and profitable. There are at least six different methods for making rubber stamps and anyone considering this as a business show know about them. The oldest method is hand carved type, which is still used today in the orient – Chinese in little stalls on the streets of Taipei for example will hand carved your "han" (Chinese family name) into a rubber stamp for a few cents, or into an ivory or bone han for a little more. Not long ago, it was possible to have a genuine signature stamp made this way.

The Art Stamp Stamper Identify your stamp designs with perfectly “rubber stamped” images on the top of the wood block! This machine is designed to eliminate the tedious task of hand stamping wood mounts and the cost and frustration of labeling or “pad printing.” An ordinary molded rubber stamp die is attached to the printing head of the machine with magnets and a steel “Printing Head Plate” using your usual self-adhesive foam cushion. A pneumatic cylinder moves an ink pad under the rubber die. Another pneumatic cylinder presses the rubber die onto the ink pad. Then the ink pad moves out of the way, and the rubber die is pressed on top of the wood mount. The ink pad must have a metal base since magnets are used to hold it in position on the machine.

Step 1 The stamp mount is held in exact position with the spring loaded clip Step 2 With the push of a button, the ink pad moves under the rubber die. NEW! If you already are an experienced stamper, you have my permission to skip this rant. What? Basically, rubber stamps are a tool to make repeated images on any printable surface. Most stamps (including the ones you can buy from our catalog) are "vulcanized". If you are handy with knives and linoleum cutters, you can make your own stamps out of carved erasers (similiar idea as the potato prints you made in elementary school). Another material to make stamps out of is clear photopolymer. Back to Top How? You can start with a few stamps, a couple of inkpads and/or markers and just have some casual fun stamping.
