MASCARA LOCKDOWN. Photo: elle china/post design: eunice chun We all know that most cosmetic lines offer waterproof versions of their top mascaras.

MASCARA LOCKDOWN

But because they need to be water resistant, the formulas tend to be a little starchy and stiff, not feathery and volumizing like their non-waterproof counterparts. So for most of us, we save the waterproof ones for pool parties and wedding days and stick to the volumizing and lengthening ones for real life, keeping an eye on everything throughout the day/evening to clean up any smears or tears and reapplying when it’s clear that the mascara hasn’t lasted. And we make the effort to do this because switching to the waterproof versions means giving up too much. Well… I’d love to share a secret tip that I use on my clients. Now you’ve locked everything in place without sacrificing big, beautiful and pet-able lashes. Cream and Gray Eyeshadow. This is a suuuuper simple eye look because there are three colors involved….and there is only one color that is dark enough that you actually have to pay attention to it when applying….Seriously it can be done very quickly.

Cream and Gray Eyeshadow

The great thing about this is that the dark color can be replaced with ANY color you feel like using that day…. you can just pick the new “crease” color…I just happened to use the dirty/gray/brown/black that is “Smut” from MAC. If you don’t want the “smokey” look, stop with the winged liner and don’t apply any liner below. Products Used: MAC Eyeshadows in “Shroom”, “Brule” and “Smut”, Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner in “Blackest Black”, MAC Paint Pot in “Soft Ochre”, NYX Lipstick in “Strawberry Milk”

QUICK TIP: HOW TO PREVENT YOUR EYELINER FROM RUNNING

It’s not their fault, really… kohl and kajal liners are made to be smudge-able and have a “slip” to them; even some longwear liners will smear a little if your eyelids are on the oilier side. Yet the whole mess could have easily been prevented if only they had ”set” the liner with a little powder immediately after applying it. Here’s how: A flat-headed laydown eyeshadow brush {that’s a mouthful!} Dip the brush into the powder to load up both sides.Place the brush in a vertical position directly and precisely below the liner, but adjacently touching it, then stamp and sweep it from one corner to the other.

10 Shapes for Your Eyeshadow

Whether you are new to makeup, or a pro, we hope you find these ten eyeshadow shapes useful! Highlights: Makeup is, after all, just a trick of the light. By highlighting certain areas, you can easily create the illusion of a brighter eye. Using lighter shades in areas to help them stand out, and deeper shades to add depth, pushing them back. My favorite sweet spots to highlight are the inner corner of the eye, the center of the eyelid, and along the brow bone. Different Eyeshadow Shapes: There are countless ways for one to use eyeshadows. Bust out the box and experiment with a new eye shape today! Inner Corner: Add a darker shadow to the inside of the lid. Outer Corner: Adding dark shades to the outer corner of the lid is flattering to most eye shapes, but particularly for those with close set eyes.
