"The Claytons Blog": Musk Sticks - Memories of my Childhood. I don't know if rhubarb is supposed to be seasonal, but my Mum brings me a bunch every time she visits, all year long. I tend to do something simple with it, cook it down with some orange juice and agave, honey or sugar to have with porridge, and sometimes I make a crumble. After seeing a delightful pud by another fan of Nigella, I had to copy it. The recipe comes from an old favourite of mine How to Eat by Nigella Lawson, and it's called Irish Tarte Tatin.

It's fabulously simple and looks quite beautiful, but not in a showy-offy way, in a 'this is a special midweek treat' kind of way. Now Ms Lawson describes the top, which becomes the base as a scone dough, but I think it's only similar in it's preperation. The mixture includes an egg, which for me means not a scone. Rhubarb is, of course tart, and this can be celebrated and enjoyed if serving a 'grown-up' dessert, but for kids to enjoy rhubarb, I find it needs to be an unapologetically sweet...sweet!
