First, I'd like to thank everyone with the Blogora for allowing me to be their guest Blogger for the month, I promise to use my powers for good and only occasionally for evil. I thought that for my first post I ought to introduce myself to the Blogora audience a little more formally, though I've been a commenter on here for some time. My name is John McKenzie, and I'm a third year Ph.D. student in rhetoric in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas, Austin, and I study ideology. http://rsa.cwrl.utexas.edu/node/2930

Ideology and Katrina, or "what I do" | The Blogora

Well, I am impressed how conservative columnist Ann Coulter finds ways to make headlines. The darling of the radical right ventured into science journalism the other day, when during an interview with Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly, she said that radiation above the government cutoff is good for you. She was promoting her latest column on her Web site , "A Glowing Report on Radiation".

The debate we don’t have to have yet - Jack the Insider Blog | The Australian

http://blogs.theaustralian.news.com.au/jacktheinsider/index.php/theaustralian/comments/the_debate_we_dont_have_to_have_yet/ THE earthquake and tsunami that shattered northern Honshu last week has marshalled Australia’s pro- and anti-nuclear exponents who insist we should have a debate about nuclear energy. If you listen to Howes and Bishop among others, you’d think the debate was compulsory, scheduled to commence tomorrow evening around at Paul Howes’ home (bring a plate). It would take seven years to construct a nuclear power plant and put it online in the grid. Surely, we can postpone the debate for a week or two given the chaos, trauma and heartache in Japan.
World water , rain , flooding etc..

http://green.blorge.com/ To hear proponents talk about Thorium reactors, you would think that Thorium is the energy panacea for which we have been searching. This readily found element can be used to create nuclear reactors that are walk-away safe, with waste that has a much shorter half life and should be easier to dispose of. Current, nuclear reactors need multiple redundant systems and can blow up as we’ve seen with Fukishima. Thorium reactors won’t blow up and don’t need the multiple redundant systems.
