The year 2020 is one of the dates set by the World Bank for many countries in Latin America to achieve full banking penetration. Today, 40 million adults receive government payments in accounts. In the region as a whole, 28% of adults make payments directly against their accounts using a debit card, compared with 14% in developing countries on average.
