Catenary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catenary The silk on a spider's web forming multiple elastic catenaries. In physics and geometry , the catenary is the curve that an idealized hanging cable or chain with very short links assumes under its own weight when supported only at its ends. The curve has a U-like shape, superficially similar in appearance to a parabola (though mathematically quite different).

Career Information

Contemplating a career centered on mathematics? Mathematical research and education are at the heart of some careers, while other careers utilize mathematics and its applications to build and enhance important work in the sciences, business, finance, manufacturing, communications, and engineering. Geometric Folding Algorithms: Linkages, Origami, Polyhedra

This is the start of a collection of web pages supporting the monograph Geometric Folding Algorithms: Linkages, Origami, Polyhedra . In particular, the pages consist of the book's table of contents and errata ; an electronic copy for owners of the physical book; applets and other supplementary material ; related PowerPoint presentations ; and a survey paper that in some sense a short form of the book.
