Yesterday we had a wonderful day celebrating dad, well morning.

Dad had to work in the afternoon, but we had a great time making the time we had with him, all about him. I love to make things by hand, especially gifts, and Father’s Day was no different. The kids and I painted him a picture, and since I took pictures along the way I thought it would be a great little post to share. This is an easy way of making kids art, art gallery worthy..or at least our version of an art gallery. 1. We bought a blank canvas from a local art store, a big giant one for high impact. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. And volia, the perfect piece of art made with love by Dad’s Loves.

DIY - wall art / DIY Ombre Art. DIY Artwork - Easy Painting Projects. UPDATE: The long weekend is the perfect time to start some new projects, so why not try this awesome (and so easy) artwork DIY? This story was originally published on July 25. If there are two things that have been commanding our attention lately, they're cool artwork and chevron prints. So, we were obviously pretty stoked to find a way to incorporate both — for cheap! — in an amazing DIY project for your apartment. Inspired by the work of artist Nancy Ramirez, two stellar Refinery29 interns collaborated on this easy-does-it way to spice up an empty wall.

There's no need to be intimidated — this project is doable for any level of DIY-er (it's actually supposed to look a little imperfect!). From the moment we spied this Nancy Ramirez painting on Pinterest, we were smitten. Assemble your paints and squeeze a quarter-size amount of each color onto your palette. To incorporate all of our colors, we used one at a time, rinsing our brush between each and blending until we covered the canvas. Just Flew The Coop: Dorm Room Cheat Sheet. The fall 2011 semester is right around the corner, which means it's time to start makin' a list and checkin' it twice!

No, I'm not talking about a naughty or nice list. I'm talking about your list of dorm room essentials! Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or even a senior, it's never a bad idea to make a list of things you are taking with you and things you need to buy before the school year begins. However, incoming freshmen will always have the biggest and longest list! It's best to go ahead and buy all the basics you need. By basics, I mean things like a mattress pad, storage bins and organizers, etc. Once you have those essential elements of your room, you can begin shopping for pretty bedding and more personalized accessories. I have created this dorm room check list (I like to call it a cheat sheet) to help during the process of getting things together for the 2011/2012 school year.

Did you know you can print this list out and take it shopping with you? DIY - wall art / Masking tape and spray paint. Easy. Done.
