The Divine Twins, Occupy, and Us - T. Thorn Coyle: Know Thyself. We love the Dark Twin so much. S/he is very dramatic, compelling, and causes our heart to race, whether in anger or desire. S/he pumps us into frenzies of emotion, clouds our thinking, takes us over. We love the Bright Twin too. S/he is beautiful and sunny, filling us with thoughts of love. But somehow s/he doesn’t hook us in quite the same way as that dark sibling. This was evidenced on Saturday, as I met my compatriots from the Interfaith Tent at Occupy Oakland to support the group that wanted to utilize an abandoned building to build a community center, with a library, art space, and a food kitchen.

The City of Oakland had other ideas. Hundreds of photos were taken – including my own, dozens of times – of the smiling faces, the music… the Bright Twin showing hir face. But it isn’t just about the unusual and monetization. Least you think I malign the Dark Twin here, know I do not. The Divine Twins rest within each of us, and they also walk among us. This happens all the time. STOP EMC MORTGAGE FORECLOSURE FRAUD - Save Satori Farm! HELP your NEIGHBORS. Oakland is fed up | | Occupy OaklandOccupy Oakland. This is part of an email I received from a friend: My wife and I were there all day and following behind at the end when the police were being really hard-core and kettling the final group. The tension was very high. I saw police surround the entire group and gas/grenade them when they had no place to go. They broke down a fence and escaped. I wanted to throw rocks at the cops at that point.

There was a lot of trash talk going back and forth between cops and protesters. Then the police forced everybody up against the YMCA and some tried to escape through there. Everybody who hadn’t been arrested reconvened outside the police perimeter and had an informal GA where they decided to go back to Oscar Grant plaza. I’m not worried so much about how the general public perceives Occupy. I don’t think we’re going to get a majority of Americans onboard with Occupy. I would show people videos from Occupy sites that show how police started all the shooting.

Occupy May Day at Daily Kos. Reposted from Daily Kos by DSWright On May 1, 2012, two weeks from now, cities across the United States and elsewhere will see a new dimension of the Occupy movement: a general strike. Whether it achieves its ends—and those vary from city to city—depends a great deal on one's view of the Occupy movement itself.

Natasha Lennard writes: Of the many questions that the Occupy movement faces before its May 1 general strike, the most important may be who exactly will be striking. Due in part to restrictive U.S. strike laws, organized labor has not endorsed the action. That’s where the Precarious and Service Workers Assemblies come in. From Occupy Wall Street: On May 1st, 2012, we are creating a new kind of holiday—A People's Holiday—One that's not just yet another flavor of consumerism, but is explicitly about imagining a world beyond consumerism. You can also check out DKos Occupy May Day. Blast from the Past. Tweet of the Day: My Response to the Official Oakland City Council posting about #J28. The first thing I would like to say is that yesterday was about giving back to the community.

In my opinion, it was a symbolic action as it should have been known that the Oakland Police Department would enforce eviction. I didn't expect them to even allow possession of any property, that becomes the understatement of the year after the events from last night. In response to the official statement, I am going to first put what was said and then give a response. These statements can be found at 1) "Ms. No where in here does it say that children's art was destroyed. The fact that people don't know why things are getting broken is what surprises me. 2) "The City’s Public Works staff has been working diligently throughout the day to remove offensive graffiti by power washing the hardscape in Frank Ogawa Plaza, removing debris from City Hall and Plaza area and fixing the damaged sprinkler system.

" If you have been arrested at Occupy Oakland, please read the following. The District Attorney has recently filed charges against some of the people arrested on December 12th and 30th. However, they have not notified people that these charges have been filed. This means that if you were arrested at any point during Occupy Oakland and your charges were not filed during an arraignment, there is still a possibility that the charges have now been filed and there is a warrant for your arrest.

Therefore, if you have been arrested, you should call the District Attorney immediately to determine the status of your case. The DA’s number is: 510-268-7500. If you find out that charges have been filed, immediately call the National Lawyers Guild to discuss your legal options. If you call the District Attorney and charges have not been filed, this does not necessarily mean that you are in the clear. For everyone who wants to know more about their options in this situation, there will be a meeting with a lawyer on Thursday, January 26. 1. 2. 3. 1. 2. 3.

Cell Phone Guide for Occupy Wall Street Protesters (and Everyone Else) Occupy Wall Street has called for a global day of action on October 15, and protesters are mobilizing all over the world. In the United States, the Occupy Wall Street movement has already spawned sizeable protests in New York, Washington DC, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, Austin, and other cities. Several of these movements have faced opposition from their local police departments, including mass arrests. Protesters of all political persuasions are increasingly documenting their protests -- and encounters with the police -- using electronic devices like cameras and cell phones. The following tips apply to protesters in the United States who are concerned about protecting their electronic devices when questioned, detained, or arrested by police. 1. Think carefully about what’s on your phone before bringing it to a protest. Password-protect your phone - and consider encryption options.

Back up the data on your phone. 2. Maintain control over your phone. 3. 4.
