Which Classic Children's Book Describes Your Life? John Michael Talbot - The Ancient Path. Talbot’s Conversion Ripples Across the World. In my early 20s, I lived alone in tiny efficiency apartments in Chicago. I eased solitude with music of Christian singer/songwriter John Michael Talbot. His lyrics are poetic, his search for God fruitful and far-reaching. When Talbot launched a new hit television ministry called All Things are Possible on Trinity Broadcasting (The Church Channel), April 2014, Catholic writer, poet, editor, and TV and radio host Mike Aquilina wrote, “John Michael Talbot has written the soundtrack to my generation’s spiritual life.”

Aquilina and Talbot co-authored The Ancient Path: Old Lessons from the Church Fathers for a New Life Today, an Image book available this January, 2015. Talbot’s music and influence followed me into married life. Raised Methodist, Talbot dropped out of school at age 15 to perform as a guitarist for country folk-rock band Mason Proffit, formed with older brother Terry. His conversion offered a homecoming: great joy and freedom in the Holy Spirit. Cute Animals | Luufy. Protect us – One archbishop's plea as Nigeria elections loom. Rome, Italy, Dec 4, 2014 / 05:01 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- As Nigeria's general elections draw near, the archbishop of the central city of Jos warned candidates not to put political agendas over people's safety and urged more rapid solutions to Boko Haram violence. “This is a time in Nigeria that calls for genuine, authentic patriotism, because the attacks seem to be ongoing and destruction and displacement seem to be becoming a regular phenomenon,” Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama told CNA Nov. 22.

“We are hoping that Nigerians who care for the good and the profit of Nigeria and Nigerians will do everything possible by transcending narrow political interests in order to genuinely seek solutions to end the phenomenon of Boko Haram.” The radical Islamist group Boko Haram began its deadly insurgency in 2009, killing over 4,000 people in 2014 alone, according to Human Rights Watch. The group has been threatening to cross into Cameroon, which shares a 300-mile border with Nigeria. Will an ancient Christian culture disappear unless East and West unite?

Washington D.C., Dec 5, 2014 / 02:02 am (CNA/EWTN News).- The East and West must cooperate to save ancient Christian cultures in the Middle East, to secure peace, and to protect humanity as a whole, an expert in Aramaic culture insists. “If Christian communities in the Middle East are targeted, you will be sure that other communities will follow soon,” warned Iraqi-born Dr.

Amal Marogy. A researcher and professor of Aramaic and Middle Eastern studies at Cambridge University and Kings College in Great Britain, Marogy currently heads the Aradin Charitable Trust that seeks to preserve the churches, art, and language that form the Aramaic culture. In a presentation at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., she spoke of her work to preserve the last vestiges of Aramaic Christian culture in the Middle East. This includes a language that has lasted for 4,000 years and relies upon families and religious figures to pass it down to the next generation. Tags: Aramaic. The Internet is a place of both joyous wonder — and corrosive meanness. There are delightful and hilarious memes and GIFs and videos made by GoPro-wearing puppies.

And there are nasty troll attacks, flame wars, and outrage galore. In 2014, however, we noticed a number of projects and sites that don’t fit either trope: neither Happy Internet nor Angry Internet. They suggest, instead, a Sad Internet. Some manifestations of the Sad Internet make a mockery of the pervasive cliché of the magical technology that connects us all, builds community, and generally permits the “crowd” to find and reward the wonderful.

The Sad Internet is a place full of unwatched videos, unliked photographs, unheard music, tweets that no one cared about, and crowdfunding projects that nobody backed. Turkish Muslims 'deeply appreciated' papal visit. Istanbul, Turkey, Dec 4, 2014 / 12:03 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis' visit to Turkey was highly appreciated by Muslims because of the care and interest he demonstrated for them, and for his acknowledgement that not all Muslims are terrorists, a local scholar has said. “The Turkish people deeply appreciated the Pope’s visit,” Zeynet Cebeci Suvari, a Ph.D. candidate at Bogazici University, told CNA. “The message is clear: 'I care about you and that is why I am here'. Even only this gesture means a lot in itself, without any words uttered.” Cebeci Suvari, a Muslim, is the first non-Christian to earn a licentiate in sacred theology from a pontifical university, having graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University. She commented that “in general, Muslims do not know much about how Holy Father is perceived in the Catholic world …. the differences among the various confessions of Christianity do not mean anything to an ordinary Muslim.”

Catholics, Muslims together condemn terrorist acts in name of religion. Vatican City, Nov 13, 2014 / 03:34 pm (CNA).- In a joint statement delivered Thursday, the Catholic-Muslim Forum condemned acts of terrorism, oppression, and violence, affirming it is never acceptable to use religion to justify such acts. The Catholic-Muslim Forum was held Nov. 11-13 in Rome.

It was established in 2008 for dialogue between the religions, and it meets every three years to harvest the fruit of more grassroots dialogue pursued between the forums. The group met on Wednesday with Pope Francis, who encouraged them to persevere in the path of interreligious dialogue and praised the common effort of the two religions in society. This year’s meeting occured as an uprise of violence in the name of religion has taken place in the Middle East with the establishment in Iraq and Syria of the Islamic State, a caliphate that has persecuted all non-Sunni Muslims in its territory. The forum meets every three years, alternating between the Vatican and a Muslim country.
