Lee will once again be taking over the Brick Lane Gallery from 17th – 22nd September to present the new collection alongside pieces from last year’s hugely successful ‘Neo Neon’ range. Bullet Ring. Young Israeli designer Adi Zaffran Weisler has made a collection of jewellery from spent bullets. Weisler collected the bullets from a firing range and fashioned them into rings.

"The rings that were created remove the bullet from its original function and they surprisingly turn into a bejeweled object and emphasize the beauty and aesthetics of the bullet when it is distanced from its surroundings," says the designer. " "Every bullet retains memories and traces of the journey it underwent from the moment it was fired until it was picked up. " Weisler is a student at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Ring made of Bone. New Designers 08: At New Designers in London last week Andrew Ross exhibited a collection of objects made of waste cow bones, which he collected from an abattoir. The range of possible applications for the material included jewellery (top), containers in which to bury used batteries (above) and casings for disposable electronic products (below). Ross claims that bone is able to neutralise certain toxic chemicals and could allow products to be thrown away without the risk of causing environmental problems.

Ross, a graduate of Dundee University, was awarded the New Designers Swarovski Crystal Palace Award (see our previous story for details of all the award winners). Cow bones used to be ground up for animal feed but the process was outlawed after the BSE crisis, and now truckloads of bones are thrown away every day. Color Rings by Israeli designer Itay Ohaly are pieces of jewellery carved from layers of coloured paint applied to a wooden table. Ohaly spends months applying a layer of acrylic paint per day, then slices through the thick surface to create the raw material for the rings. The rings often include slices of timber from the table beneath the paintwork. Here's some info from Ohaly: The rings were carved out of an old painting table, taken from a children's furnitures carpentry. It takes 4 month of daily painting to reach this thickness, creating a new material to work with.

The layers are acrylic paint, while the wood is a part of the original painting table.
